Keep 'politics' out of this please. No room for it, we've enough to deal with without bickering about that <ovf censored> aswell emoji849.png

Totally agree, we don’t need him back at the club. Thanks for the Orient and burton memories though Dennis.

  2. Football is such a predictable game isn’t it. Back when Carol took over I said on here that she should be careful courting the limelight and publicity like she did when she was riding a wave of popularity. People were quick to criticise that comment because of how she’s saved the club and all the good things she’d done. All fair points of course. But at some point football eventually turns nasty when results don’t go our way and people will forget what’s gone before. Here we are at that point now.

  3. What will be interesting if Crosby goes and we get a new man in is what formation will he want to play? Because a new man may prefer 4 at the back. Which means a massive change in playing personnel at the club. Plus if we are thinking of making a change then it needs to be done soon so the new man can assess the squad himself. We don’t want another situation of the manager not going til the end of the jan window.

Sang put some great balls in to the box on Saturday, we had 15 corners, most of which were put in to the box pretty well. Uche was nowhere to be seen, neither was Massey except the 2 good chances they missed. Our strike force is useless, is this down to the tactics we are playing or are they just useless? My guess is they are just useless as neither have done it under other managers and you can add Loft on to that list.

Just banging crosses into the box is such a predictable way of playing and is a sure fire way to give the ball straight back at this level. Especially when it’s all we do.  Where’s the patterns of play around the box? Midfielders arriving in to the box? Breaking lines? Wing backs getting behind? Midfielders linking up with wingbacks and forwards? Forwards bringing the wingbacks into the game? It seems non existent to me. Yet Crosby was party to this way of playing in the promotion season when we looked a lot better going forwards. Hes done it before with Clarke.

There are loads of posts on Twitter from Derby fans after tickets. Notwithstanding all the other reasons  like Atmosphere Vale have potentially thrown away £20k+ from lost away revenue. From one game alone. Over the season perhaps circa £100k which could have paid a decent goal scorers additional wages. You do have to wonder sometimes

We won’t sell out the away end many times in this league though. What we may lose in revenue by having less  away fans in the Bycars when compared to those previously sold out Hamil road away followings, we have (hopefully) offset in some part in more home fans using the Hamil road end.

The main thing I think we have lost is atmosphere though. Away fans hidden away up a corner further away from the far end of the Railway and also our own cordoned off section of seats in the Hamil right next to the Railway isn’t conducive to an atmosphere.

Personally no I don't, I think they say it how it is on most occasions and it's refreshing. I was trying to say that the review will prove the point they are NOT club PR.

Same here. They tell it like it is for the games.

But it’s a totally different matter when the manager of the club drops in for a chat. I just don’t think he would accept fans asking ridiculous questions like “is it you or flitcroft in charge” kind of stuff. And equally it’s ridiculous to expect a fan made podcast to suddenly turn into Adrian Durham and try to adopt a hardline approach with questions.

    Where was questions like

Why are we not changing formation to fit players that we have fit into there correct positions?

you say that we are going to carry on playing this way but surely if the results don't change we have to adapt and change?

do you not think teams have worked us out hence our run of results?

why do we only have two wing backs at the club when our whole system and attacking play is built around wing backs? Was this your decision are you happy with this?

are you allowed to change formation from 3 at the back or is flitcroft telling you its this way ?

Do you feel any pressure from the club to turn this run around?

have you been given striking options that your happy with?

Why do we look like we have no idea what to do after crossing the halfway line?

whats the point in keeping possession when we do nothing with it?

even when he said things like it was my fault for lincoln why not question why? what had he told the players. Why did he make the decision to sit back even when it was 10v10

There’s no way he would have sat there and have fans throw some disrespectful questions like that at him. You’d be lucky to get past the first 2. To expect a couple of fans running a podcast to start acting like talksport with the manager is ridiculous.

Plymouth away last season was one of the best performances from a Vale defender for years. I love DJ. Strong as an ox, got a mistake in him, but is also capable of Beckham-esque long balls.

The odd crossfield pass that works doesn’t make him a good player. His defensive work should be what defines him. We need him to ad balance to the side on the left hand side of defence and he’s a valuable member of the squad when he’s fit.

I will not be paying for any service that Sentinel provides, why should we?

We get enough free content from places like OVF, all Port Vale social media channels and Radio Stoke.

Also, is Baggers still going to be reporting on Wolves ?

It says that baggers has quit the wolves job after 3 months and returned to do this. It’s a big decision, because starting a paid service could fail dramatically.

Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere, if so please merge or delete. The Sentinel are starting a paid service to cover our news with Baggers returning to run it. Seems a bit rich given that stoke fans don’t have to pay for theirs.

In regards to Flickers the man has one promotion 2 academy lads in the first team 1 academy goalie playing for his country and another who we are probably going to sell if he doesn't sign for us. He's done more in 2 years than had been done in the previous 20 he said himself we couldn't afford quality league 1 players at the start of the season so I don't think we can knock him for not signing many if any.

Are we saying the young lads are down to him? When did those lads come into the club? I genuinely don’t know.

  12. @DannyBezza you are so right about time wasting, it’s getting beyond a joke now and is probably the biggest thing that ruins a game of football for me. We really need referees to get a grip of it. Keepers diving on the floor for no reason other than to time waste is the one that winds me up the most.

I also think the pitch was the biggest issue for Forresters injury too. If the pitch doesn’t give way then his body doesn’t react in the way it does. I know Jonny had  had a beer but I felt he was very harsh to be criticising players for being broken in the way he did. Equally I feel the criticism of Conlon, who I agree isn’t having a great season, is now getting over the top too. Clearly he’s frustrated and wants to put it right and if he did react in the way he did at the game (moaning about fans boos when he goes backwards) I wouldn’t blame him. Let’s be realistic most of us fans are clueless as to what they’re told to do on the pitch and we as a fan base I feel are awful for booing or own  players when they don’t just launch it forward or cross it, and instead go backwards, sideways  or misplace a pass.

Speaking of which Andys comment on the Burton pod was pure gold, “I stayed til the end to boo every player off”. Priceless 😀

Spot on with todays pod lads, especially the analysis of the recruitment so far this year! Major lessons need to be learned, I thought they would have learned them in the summer but let's see what the rest of this window brings

Apart from Jonnys assessment that our recruitment of centre halves has been 10/10 and then proceeds to agree with @DannyBezza that Cass has had a poor season so far (but there’s a player in there) and that Forrester can’t string a couple of games together.

Jonnys phrase “there’s a player in there” is becoming as well used as Conlons left foot. Oh and using the word “project” in regards to a football club really gets my back up, have a word Bez.

Is that the Zac Jules who has made 49 league 1 starts since he left us?

Doesn’t detract from how bad he was for us in the brief cameos he made a few years ago. But as others have said above, he managed to get his career back on track under DC at Walsall.

I suppose listening to a podcast is just like sitting down and talking about the vale with your mates. Everyone has their favourites and irrational dislikes and things that bug them. The difference is that it  gets a bigger audience.

I agree everyone is entitled to their opinion but when your putting yourself out there and promoting your opinion i think you cant just talk nonsense and not expect to be called up on it. Ive listened to the pod pretty much since it started and have enjoyed it on the whole. But feel like one of the fans on there is becoming miles of it and it's dangerous projecting in accurate views to a large % of vale fans. Anyone who watched the game couldnt argue that not many showed up on saturday but to blame a player who clearly isnt at fault for 3 goals and make him a scapegoat for the loss to fit your agenda that you dont think is good enough when in fact he is one of our better players is not on. I have rarely seen them give any player a rating of a 2 before and there have been a lot of bad performances from from players in a vale shirt since they have started the pod. They also at the start up the pod clarified that they were going  off saturdays performance only on the ratings but then on their favourites didnt mark them down anywhere near as smith because 'theyve got credit in the bank' from the other games.

A 2 indicates an absolute shocker of performance. To me that’s a score from a Zak Joules or a Benning at Walsall last season.

Genuinely baffled how you can blame smith for 3 out of the 4 goals. Just had to go watch them back to make sure and genuinely cant see how you can blame him for any of them. The only one i can see a half argument is the fourth as its smithys man that put it in but that came from garrity messing up clearing the ball and the ball pinged straight to smithys man so wouldn't say there is much he could of done about that. The other 3 honestly baffled me. I dont think smith had a great game but to put the blame on him for 3 of the goals is delusional. First harrison soft as <ovf censored> and they break through a non existent midfield smith has a split decision to stay with man or go out he starts go out the guy shoots from 30 yards stone should of done better. Second forrester week as <ovf censored> so smith has come out because of that error they cross and someone in box scorers how can that be deemed smiths fault. The third smith nowhere near guy chesting it down in the box but is the one that closest to blocking it as the other defenders just let him have all the time in the world to bring it down and have a shot.

Must admit to thinking the same that Jonny had gone a bit over the top. Not his best game in a vale shirt by any stretch but certainly not as culpable as Jonny would want you to believe.

He is not playing well looked well off the pace saturday compared where he was before the injury. It might be because he is in a higher league against better players if so a big improvement is needed to keep his place in the team.

And he’s playing in a different position, he’s played much better for us playing further forward and linking play. The same happened when he first came in, we didn’t get the best out of him playing in a deeper role.  Same goes for Garrity too.

He is  right in what he says for a pro footballer not to be capable to kick a ball with both feet is unbelievable just practice kicking with your weaker foot if you only use it for standing on you will never improve it not my words but Dennis Wilshaws when he was in charge of Stoke on trent boys team and he was a English international.

But to keep on about it every week is overkill. When he was playing well last season I don’t think he got as much stick for it.
