I think these banner things are bloody daft. They cost a fortune and can come back to but you in the bum. Sunderland did one over St James’ Park when Newcastle went down in 2016. They thought it was such a clever thing to do. The following season Newcastle went back up, passing Sunderland on the way who went down in successive seasons to League One. That worked out well!!

I occasionally watch this stuff on TNT and the lack of rules always astonishes me. You seem to be able to do anything on the pitch rather than shoot the ref. I’m always amazed by the levels of fitness shown by the players. They have astonishing stamina and are regarded by many as some of the fittest athletes in the world. They run forever much of it at sprinting speeds. Should we investigate their fitness training method so that our lads don’t die after 70 minutes??
