Although as Plymouth are willing to let him go, and, from what I've read, their fans don't seem to fussed, it doesn't strike me as a great signing. Still, lets see what happens. If he wears the shirt he'll get my support.

Worth noting he was captain at Plymouth. We need another talker like Duffy at the back. He's left because they need him off the wage bill aswell, not because they don't want him. Happy with that signing aslong as its short term.

Thing about darren purse is he is a leader and i think thats what we might be missing to drive us on in games. Also got tons of experience as well as being strong and very good in the air. Would of liked someone with a bit of pace but im sure Purse could do a job.

I love how vale fans are crying out for a quick centre half like they grow on trees and are available at the drop of a hat.

 

Just cast your minds back to the goals we have conceeded this season and count how many have come from a centre half getting done for pace??

 

A lot of our goals conceeded have come from set pieces and long range shots not slow defending

 

IMO Purse will add great experience to handle set pieces and marking in the box

No not obsessed with!, so you think sticking with Chilvers and McDonald would be a better option? you think the amount of goals we're conceding is acceptable, especially at home?

 

Im not against getting people in, Purse used to be a quality player dont know what he's like now, I just think we needed a quicker slightly younger recruit someone who we can be in the team for seasons to come not just old pro's with not long left in their careers!

Personally, I'm very pleased about this. Whilst he may not be blessed with pace, he is probably the most experienced defender in the lower leagues. What he lacks in pace and agility, he more than makes up for with his great aerial prowess, his ability to read the game and his general leadership attributes.

 

Partner him alongside a quicker player, and I think he'll do a very good job for us. He's played at a much higher level and is far too good for League Two. Birchall and Purse are two very good signings, as long as we compliment them accordingly and bring in appropiate players to fit around them.

 

Pleasing start, not just the two signings, but the PR work from Paul Wildes and the general buzz that has started to filter around Port Vale Football Club.

Not often i agree with a Stoke fan but there are plenty of teams who have decent players in their team but the team are in a poor league position, QPR have quite a few of them
