Davis looked good to me, deserves to be kept in the starting 11 on that performance. An encouraging performance from Sam Morsy too in my opinion, got stuck, showed good strength and some good range of passing.

 

Thought the midfield including Morsy were very poor to be fair. Davis, Tomo, Richards and Loft (first half) were the bright points for me.

Amazing how much Loft has come on. Was there when he played his first game for us against Rochdale and couldn't believe what we'd signed. He was terrible.

My first game in over ten months. Thought Vale were average in one of the less entertainng games I have seen.

 

Yates had a good game.

 

Richards showed why we can't let him go if possible - he is the only player with a genuine eye for goal. He knows where the goal is and isn't afraid to have a pop, whereas most other players look for the throughball or one-two. Richards missed a few half-chances including that volley, though that required good technique. Took his goal well.

 

Tomlinson has come in for some stick on here since I've been away. He made some horrendous kicks, but saved the 3 points with that great save towards the end.

 

The atmosphere had classic league 2 cemetrey undertones to it from the off, though it picked up a bit when we got going.

This was a very important win because it puts us 11 points above Hereford who are in the relegation places with them having 8 games to go and us 9. The players needed to dig deep physically after playing on Saturday and did so. Hereford played neat and tidy football and showed a level of skill and confidence well above their league position. So great win. Main disappointment was the crowd being just below 4000. I think many people who have not bought season tickets stayed away because the gate price is too high. The balance needs to be adressed for 2012/2013.

I didn't think he was as effective going forward from left back last night. When he is right back he has the threat to cut back in field and put in a left foot cross that is swinging towards goal. A bit like Pope did for the goal. He didn't do that from left back. However, I may be a bit unfair there because the team had to get legs back from playing on Saturday. Clearly I think retaining Loft could be a big plus towards a promotion push, but other clubs will be interested in him and he is good enough to play at league 1 and possibly championship level.
