Match Thread: Port Vale v Morecambe

The point is that as our gates continue to decline some clubs are taking the initiative and encouraging people into the ground in order to create a buzz and more importantly to build the fan base - we do nothing to arrest the decline. That is my point pal.

And it is factually proven people want to watch a winning team pal.

Burton and Northampton proved that, if we gave free admission for everyone on Saturday i don't think we'd of even got 7000.

Winning football attracts punters, if you had offered me a free lift in a limousine, pre match meal and free drinks i'd still struggle to find enthusiasm watching this dirge.

Its most defo been on the whole very underwhelming and if u look at the games we havent deserved win a game this year .

Taking players off at half time is not the answer ,whitfield needs to stay on move him so that he a free role behind Pope or Forrester.

No offence to Popeys family who obviously will post on here to defend there man but why is he never taken off .

Yes i know he as played well but that extra yard of pace up front with Angus Dior or Forrester could make the difference.

In the last 3 home games he had one attempt a pen v Yeovil scored ,Colchester i cannot remember him threatning there goal and Morecambe two headers so a total of say 4 goal attempts in 3 games .

At Accrington he had one and scored .

So my analysis of this is this dominate Pope then Vale wont win .

So this is where Aspin and his backroom staff have to be more proactive and try something different .

Either stick another big unit up there so that 2 centre halves cannot mark him or play a striker who can play on the shoulder and not Pope .

Im heartened by the second half displays v Colchester and Morecambe but first halfs have being in the main abysmal .

I think there are goals in Vale it just needs a slight change of formation .

Look at my team v Cheltenham that team has presence throughout the team and if Whitfield Harness or Hannant are given the just in behind role all would be likely goalscorers
