Who's going to cop for it?

Best thing to do is to give them a great round of applause and cheer when their names are announced, then boo them for a bit, then cheer them, then boo them. We can then have a whip round for their therapy session after the game, when they will be a touch confused about how they stand with Vale fans.

But I still have a funny feeling Tom will score against us next season

The game against Southampton comes to mind when all around the ground you could hear

" BIG NOSE ,

Youve got a ****ing big nose,

Youve got a ****ing big nose ....."

Who was laughing most ----- Le Tiss Worthington and Le tiss were Great players because they had skill, could take a wacking and not role on the floor playing dead, but could have a laugh with home and away fans - both great players and great showmen/entertainers.

As with anything, its the motive that's behind it - even booing can be friendly banter, and Tom would relish it. booing accompanied by hatred and curses for a player trying to injure someone or diving is different.

I agree with a cheer when they run out, and even perhaps applause or a cheer at the end, if hooefully their new team has lost, but in the match a bit of banter or a boo.

Years ago, I remember Frank Worthington, in his autumn days, came on as sub against us at Preston and absolutely loved it, waving and smiling as the 1000 or more Vale fans greeted him with 'oh wan*y, wan+y, .... Wan=y wan=y Worthington' for a good 10 minutes continuously - and played ok.

Football needs some fun and characters, just no malice at players.

If Tom scores, it'll be pants but he's doing his job. He's one of us and if Bury think differently they're mad, his presence at Newcastle on Saturday proves that. I'd put money on him not celebrating at Vale Park if he scored.

If Willo scores, he got lucky!!! Joking aside, if he gets something out of his transfer to Gills then good luck to him. He was stuck in a rut here and as Rob's front page story suggests, it's impossible to see how a move elsewhere will affect a player. Maybe the fact he was actively pursued has done his confidence the world of good and he does an "Akpo"! Either way, it was never going to happen at the Vale for him.

Marshall was obviously chasing the money but without his contribution last year we'd have struggled and for that we should be grateful (admittedly through gritted teeth).
