Following on from another thread....

I got to thinking about food thats not around any moor or difficult to find... rabbit/hare/pigeon etc and the dishes that were made from the... brawn/pie/jugged hare etc... and all the things grandmothers used to make but seem to have been forgotten... What are the things you miss?

Down here in the Devon area game is still quite popular and common. The butchers across the road form where I used to live in Sidmouth always has rabbits/pigeon/brawn available

What do i miss....heart..always loved that and there is not enough liver around these days. Brawn and dripping seem not to be so readily available any more and cheap Coop pink sauasges!!! Oh and tripe yummy!!!!!

Never liked liver, tastes better raw than cooked, never liked tripe either, hearts nice and kidneys but I particularly liked sweetbreads and brains which I cant get over here, tripe and liver by the truck load and pigs face [too rubbery for me] {no I dont mean nice}... what are "pink sausages"?

I have eaten sheeps testicles..deep fried. Very nice. When i was in Singapore we ate some odd things...pig head, deep fried sea horses, rice birds, some insects which I am not sure about.

I was told by locals that if it has a face they will eat it

Thats how it is here... anything and everything... with very few exceptions... ants eggs to rice rats... from snake to crocodile... everything with chilli and fish sauce [i dont mean the stuff you can buy in bottles either]
