  1. I'm sure Dave Flitcroft has the data on it already. Players in our squad have experience of relegation from L1.

Ripley, Smith, Clarke, Grant, Weir, Chislett, Loft - 7 Senior PLAYERS

A squad made up of perennial losers and kids not ready for the 1st team.

We've prepared well for relegation from L1.

Hang it up in the dressing room.

    Great thread to start.

When the Jan transfer window closes I think we will it be much clearer to pick but based on teams played my bottom 4:

    Cambridge

    Shrewsbury

    Carlisle

    Fleetwood

Leyton Orient could do a Vale and get dragged into it!

Revisit this post post the transfer window,

    Bottom 4:

    Shrewsbury

    Port Vale

    Fleetwood

    Carlisle

All very well and good, however, both Bowers and Baggaley have said they have asked to interview him multiple times over the past week and have been left hanging, yet he miraculously appears on an in house podcast!

It smacks of avoiding the media in case he doesn't have prepared answers for questions he's seen in advance.

It also takes the sting out of anything they do now, because people won't read/listen to it because they'll assume its the same as this.

I'm all for external scrutiny whether it be fan forums or press interviews rather than a cosy in house piece where Flitcroft can control what's said and what isn't.

I also find it interesting he's stuck his head above the parapet now rather than when, as Radio Stoke and The Sentinel/Valiant have said, he was asked last week when there would have undoubtedly been far more negatives than positives.

I agree he does require external scrutiny however to be very very fair to the club and Flitcrofft Dan asked questions which I felt were very representative of criticism and concerns of fans on here and also on socials. Dan even seeked clarification at times  on those answers.

Yes it was cozy and the abuse stuff was a little over the top because Flitcroft just waffles at times but you know I very much doubt Baggers or Bowers would have been as direct with the questioning and kept Flitcroft on track as much as Dan did because he has a relationship with him which clearly helped the interview.

Everyone can judge the answers for themselves but it was a very open and honest interview.

Well done Port Vale, Dan Townley and Dave Flitcroft.

On the abuse point, he did specifically mention Fleetwood and the home game, but also online which his family were apparently reading.

I was in the Lorne Street for the home game and I never heard anything other than singing get out.

Not nice to hear for him and his family but it's part of football and why he gets paid the big bucks to be a big boy. I've not seen anything online either other than the expletive Off but obviously doesn't mean it's not happened.

Not saying this is the case here but in this day and age I do wonder at times what the threshold is for abuse.

Weirdly quiet response to the podcast, which I personally found very illuminating. Really sad to hear how the abuse has affected DF and also his family. Nobody deserves that just from trying to do their job.

I tried to start a new thread called Dave Flitcroft In ( Podcast) but failed miserably and put it in the Tickets and Travel Section.

Great listen. An explanations of what's happening is exactly what I have wanted and he explained very well and openly dispelling a few myths and urban legends. I thought Dan did an excellent interviewing DF, really representing the fans with his questions rather than a corporate approach. On the abuse I haven't heard or seen anything out than Dave Flitcroft get out of the club which I peronsally don't think abuse but I wasn't at Fleetwood so no idea how personal it got top there.

Ask any stoke fan. He hasn't "contributed"(performance or goals) for 2 years.

It doesn’t matter. Stoke has been a graveyard for players for years. He’s not 1st or the last player to be <ovf censored> for the <ovf censored>.

We have no options up front and he will contribute immediately. That’s what we need.

I’m confident he’s going to be a better option than Loft.

Conor Wickham would be way ahead of Gayle in my list. Scored a good amount for a shocking team in this league last year. Gayle hasn't scored for at least a year, and was rumoured to be on 40k at stoke. Even at a 10th of that we'd be killing our budget for a player who hasn't done it for a long while.

Granted, anyone's better than no one at this point.

Connor Wickham would need a pre season to before he’s fit to play. He wouldn’t be available until mid March.

Gayle all day long, he can contribute immediately.

I just came here to ask the same thing. Had a text off a mate (who probably got it off another mate), that he’s been seen.

I just posted on the match day because I couldn’t find this one 😂

A very very strong rumour. If it’s not him we definitely have someone else lined up.

. It could take a whole window from start to finish, just to bring a player into a club. This makes me ask the question as our season was falling apart, why was AC allowed to continue as our manager after the beginning of December.? The manager must have some say in who he would like to come into the club, it can’t just be the decision of the DoF.

Agree. As chuffed as I am about Darren Moore’s appointment I still would like to hear from our DOF to explain the why’s and what’s over the past 3 weeks with a failed transfer window, backing Crosby only to sacked him 1 game later after the window closed.

As the window panned out Gibbo would have been a good signing. However,  given the choice of a good centreforward or Gibbo the former was clearly the spot to spend money on.

Being optimistic if Moore really did his research before taking the job it's pretty clear we are desperate for a centreforward.  That probably means there is some kind of plan to bring someone in which has a reasonable probability of happening. I really can't see him being here to add a relegation to his CV. The obvious one Dwight Gayle who probably had his best season playing under Moore.

Considering the interest in him I find it odd Gayle has not got another club yet 2 weeks after his contract was terminated.

I can’t see how we could afford his wages but I was thinking that about the manager…..

Watched it, was quite good and a real insight into how much is involved in just a loan move. Harris said they'd missed a couple etc.

Good wasn’t it. Highlighted the difficulty with the transfer window and the work involved including the Sporting Director.

    Daz missed the main point😀

Far too soon to be looking at other fixtures yet.

However as I've a bit of time on my hands I was having a nose.

Cheltenham really have a chance. They have already played Pompey,Derby and Bolton twice . Their fixtures are reasonable.

Saturday is a massive game psychology wise too.

I agree we just have to concentrate on ourselves and not worry about what other teams are doing.

I would call Saturday fixture a must not lose but we have to find a way of getting wins at home especially with those teams around us like Shrews,Lincoln,Fleetwood.

Our next 6 games will probably decide our fate.

We were staring relegation in the face in exactly the same circs when DC took over. If he could manage to get that horrendous lot in shape and go on the unbeaten run we did, then we have to be confident that DM can do the same. And that was with Robinson and Guthrie up front and Brisley at the back wasn't it?

DC made us difficult to beat and then we went from there. We need a repeat of that. Clean sheets would be enough to keep us up with a few more penalties and OG’s 😀

  14. Northampton have signed Liam Moore today until the end of the seasonal excellent signing.

It goes to show there are still good free agents out there. We have to find a way of getting a few through the door to give us a better chance of staying up. I still don't see how we can score enough goals to win matches.

That was in no way a dubious penalty and the team was good for a point yesterday against a team that must be riding very high.

I don't mean to single you out, MBE, but we do need to stop stacking the deck against Flitcroft. He's got a mixed record in his job, and the last few months have been particularly concerning, but he now has an opportunity to get a very big decision right.

Team deserved a point for effort no doubt about it. Watching the replay I stil think it’s dubious decision, think no we got a little luck for once.

Flitcroft has done enough to stack the deck against himself.

I’m only asking to explain what’s happened and put right the wrongs i.e manager and squad.

Wait to see who he brings in.

  16. I’m firmly in Flitcroft out camp however if he appoints a proper manager, not a head coach with less experience than Crosby, provides resources for the new manager and also explains the last 2 weeks then my stance softens.

He was very lucky today to get a dubious pen decision go our away otherwise it would have been very loud and angry chanting again.

In all fairness we have just had a supporters open meeting and a statement from the owner

True. The forum meeting has contradicted actions and the letter is not a communication about those contradictions which is why we have a problem.

Well said, transparency is needed.  Tell the fans reality however hard it may be to take.  Communication is better than conflict.

I’m part of the Supporters Summit group and it was the very 1st thing highlighted  at the 1st meeting.

Don’t bunker down ignore the noise when it’s bad. You have to communicate the why in good and bad times and you bring fans with you.

Sadly its fallen on deaf ears.
