The club should have a medium to long term focus this window. Next season likely Stockport and Wrexham are coming up, Rotherham will come down and always do well. There will be four poor teams that will be relegated from League One this season, because as we've demonstrated you don't need to be that good to find yourself some way clear of the drop. That might not be the case next season.
We're currently only 6 points "clear of the drop"

Well, we go almost the whole of the first half of this season without scoring more than one goal at home and now...........the last 3 home games have produced 13 goals, eight of those to the Vale! Who'd have thought it?

What's happening at Vale Park? For goodness knows how many league games ptreviously, we hadn't been able to score more than 1 goal. Now, the last two home fixtures have produced an aggregate score of 5-5!
When we couldn't score more than one goal per game, at least we weren't conceeding many. Now, we've managed to score 5 goals, yet have conceded the same amount. If anything does, surely these stats point to cock-eyed and naive tactics viewed from any standpoint. Unfortunately, with all the evidence we see, I just don't think AC is going to be able to turn things around and sadly, must side with the "AC out" cohort.

Clarkey still a liability at cheltenham i see! One more win & they're out the relegation zone. Incredible job he's doing 👏🏻 buzzing for him
He's certainly taken Cheletenham forward by massive steps in a short period of time. Whether "new manager bounce" remains to be seen, but if they do continue on this upward trajectory they could soon be overhauling PV--that would speak volumes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wilson out of contract in a few days
Uche on a contract until the end of the season.
Both of them would be easy enough to get rid of in January if you want a new striker coming in that is
I didn't realise that Wilson's contract was only until January. As I thought, Uche is on a season-long contract. So, surely it isn't that easy to get rid unless both parties agree to cancel his contract?

I agree that we are not going to change our style which makes the signings of Uche & Loft look more ridiculous because I thought we had an "identity" with the way we want to play which comes with its own problems.
No matter how you look at it, we are not going to have 4 experienced strikers on our books come the end of January especially when we have a manager that will never play with 2 strikers. Somethings got to give in regards to Uche, Loft & Wilson with the easiest option being either let Wilson or Uche go in January
But they're both under contract aren't they? So, unless Vale can get a fee, it looks like those two will be with us for the rest of the season!

Bill, they thought they got a maestro from Birmingham when they appointed Rowett. He was in the same position as Useless, getting turfed out to make room for Zola. Look what happened then, perhaps history will repeat itself. A club in turmoil
I only refer to John Eustace's coaching ability. From a relatively close-up view (living down here, I have a number of Blues' supporting friends) and they were impressed with the progress Birmingham made under his stewardship. Needless to say and not surprisingly, they are miffed at the poor performances since Wayne Rooney took over!

Good Lord, this is hardly a list of elite managers. It does make me think that whichever one of these is appointed will have a brief honeymoon period like Neill before the fans inevitably turn on him and he goes...
Stoke City manager twist as new favourite emerges - Stoke-on-Trent Live
WWW.STOKESENTINEL.CO.UKWith the way in which he transformed Birmingham from previous season relegation candidates into 6th position in The Championship this season, before being unceremoniously dumped in favour of Wayne Rooney, makes him a potentially good appointment in my eyes. For this reason, I hope they don't take him, he might just do a 'Birmingham' on Stoke!

Can I suggest, as a friend, DONT put both feet on the accelerator or brake. Just use one. Could end up crashing otherwise. 😏

Our play moving forward in those first 25 mins or so was absolutely brilliant. However we did take our feet off the accelerator and unfortunately, a couple of self-inflicted mistakes in the second half nearly cost us the game. However, overall, this was about the best performance I've seen this season so far and Chissy's winner a real cracker. The fight we also showed in those last nailbiting 7 mins was terrific. Loft's chase and close-down of their guy on the left side in those closing minutes exemplified this!
Two league wins on the bounce--onwards & upward. UTV well done the lads!

I don't mean this as a boast, but I've clocked-up even more years than you-this is my 70th year of attending Vale Park. I say that only to give context to why I empathise so much with what old school has said. And yes, I too will be at the game tomorrow. What is it they say?...............Through thick & thin.....UTV!

Just a reminder on how we got to 17th place - 6pts from a possible 36
And that, as they say, is the real knub of the matter!

Well, at long last, we've scored a few goals, albeit the 3rd in extra-time. But what happened to closing-out games? Late, late goals conceded sunk us again. Closing-out should be the stuff of basic schoolboy coaching, but we seem totally incapable of achieving this!
Our various cup runs have to a some degree masked the shortcomings of team & manager. Unfortunately, having now been dumped unceremoniously, from two of these competitions, the 'cloak' has been well & truly, snatched off. We are now in the full glare of a relegation battle in the league and sadly, I do not have the greatest of optimism that the glaring shortcomings in defence & particularly up front are going to be addressed in the January window.
I sincerely hope that I'm proven wrong, starting on Saturday against Wigan, but I fear it's going to be long, nail-biting and drawn-out winter/spring. Mr. Crosby please prove me wrong!

Just had a quick look and of the 25 games we have played this season ,in all competitions we have scored 2 or more goals in only 6 games, in 9 games we failed to score. That means in the 10 other games we scored 1 goal. So out of the 25 games played in 19 games we either scored 1 goal or failed to score, and therein lies our problem. Apart from the opening day, we arent getting stuffed by the opposition, but equally if the opposition score 2 against us we are stuffed.
Spot on. That's the exact thrust of my argument. It's true, first match apart, we aren't getting rolledover and we are playing some good build-up football. We just need more goals!
