Port Vale 3-2 Wigan Athletic reaction – what the managers said…
Reaction from a “delighted” Andy Crosby and a downbeat Shaun Maloney after Port Vale defeated Wigan Athletic 3-2 on Saturday afternoon.
It was a thriller at Vale Park which was ultimately decided by an Ethan Chislett hat-trick. The result means Port Vale have ended their poor form with back-to-back League wins.
Andy Crosby – Port Vale manager
“I’m delighted for the players. I thought the performance levels were the best we’ve played all season both with and without the ball. We looked a proper team today.
“I thought the game probably should have been done at half-time we were that dominant in the first-half. Delighted for Ethan (Chislett) to score a hat-trick but generally all round a good performance.”
Shaun Maloney – Wigan Athletic manager
“I think the way that we played in the second-half, I can accept if we lose if we play like that. It was the very opposite in the first-half. When the levels are slightly down in any game, we can get hurt. And we definitely got hurt in the first-half today.
“Port Vale, I’ll give them a lot of credit. They were very good in the first-half.”
