Thank you for bearing with OVF during a huge surge in user activity yesterday.

 

To put it in some perspective, last Tuesday we had just under 50,000 page views. Yesterday that figure was just under 100,000 with some 35 new threads started (compared with 20 last week). At one point yesterday there was around 750 people simultaneously using the site which is a huge drain on our dedicated server.

 

It took me several hours to switch all the various features off and stabilise the server (mainly because I too was being bumped off) but the good news is that I have saved the key settings and can now switch things off (and therefore also on again) much quicker if/when things get busy again.

 

Please note that as the run-in to the season continues things will continue to get busy on here so do expect times when features are switched off to keep our server online.

 

On another note, I would appeal to all users to keep it nice. Attack the argument and not the poster. Personal abuse will not be tolerated. We do not read every post so we rely on you to report things to us if users are breaking our rules.
