The academy

Looks as if the club have given up on the new twitter before it started.

Vale went out of the staff senior Cup to Eccleshall as reported by Mike Baggerley in the sentinel.

Also, one of our summer junior recruits, Josh Nunes, appears to have joined Sutton academy (not sure if it's permanent but seems likely).

Returning to an old thread...

Seems from the outside looking in that theres root and branch change afoot in the youth ranks at Vale.

Sevy aslam has gone now, unsure if he's been replaced as head of youth development.

We've appointed Scott Ruscoe, who spent 4 years managing TNS in the Welsh and Europa leagues, to manage our U16s. Mustafa Alpher Avci has also come in as a coach, hes also currently Chorleys head of youth and has managed in the turkish supa lig.

Its probably about time change like this was undertaken. I understand we struggle to retain good youth lads given our proximity to big teams, but to have two decent youth products (Smith and Gibbo) in the best part of 15 years is criminal.

New ideas, new cultural input on the football our lads learn. It can only be beneficial!

I do wish the club would keep us more informed about the academy, the youth team section of the website only has goalkeepers on it, the twitter account is never used.

Great update! Where did you hear about Rusco and Avci?

Seems the only way to follow the youth team is to buy a programme as I believe the match reports and updates are detailed in there?

Would be good if this was then uploaded online somewhere

This is what ive been saying all along, must be a click of a button to tweet the match reports out, considering they already write them up for the program.

I saw ruscoe and avci tweet about new roles and did a bit of digging.
