The problem is The Sentinel if it runs stories, it will sell more papers which is it's primary function, whereas Radio Stoke's funding is entirely from the licence fee and with the freeze and cuts that have been announced it is scared of alienating the clubs in case they go elsewhere for their commentaries, ie S____l or Six Towns.

That's a good point. ^

 

I suppose if radio Stoke stick to commentating and only allow half a dozen fans to address the issues each week on air then their schedule will remain full. Whereas the sentinel have a moral obligation to expose corruption in our area, as well as interesting stories generating more sales.

Don't think Sandoz did too bad - I suspect he had to be careful tonight in case of any liable action, arising from some of the callers. He was OK - give the guy a break!!

 

I noticed that he interrupted one caller because he called Deakin or Miller a liar. How do Radio Stoke stand on this? Surely they aren't liable for the personal views of contributors to phone ins. It seems to me that these presenters are frightened of their own shadows!!

Well they didn't interrupt Deakin when he used the very same word on a number of occasions regarding Hank so that shows a clear bias. What is their justification for that?

There are several defences in the law on defamation - one includes the fact that the statement was true....sadly, though, the legal system means that costs are phenomenal, and many media organisations are reluctant to risk the potential cost of a lengthy court case where the opponent has even the slightest chance of winning.......unless they are loaded themselves.....BBC are the worst for backing off like that....
