Matchday Thread: Port Vale v AFC Wimbledon

Not sure of the complexities of the transfer rules' date=' but as Remie Streete is only 22, does that mean we are entitled to a transfer fee for him, assuming we offer him an improved deal - though that's not a given with Smurthwaite?[/quote']

That's right as long as we offer the same or more than he is currently earning but the amount we would get would just be a bit of compensation and only a few thousand. If we offer him less then we won't get a thing.

People praising Reg for "running around and putting effort" is the minimum I'd expect of a professional footballer.

I'd also expect them to be able to control a football more than 1 out of 5 times. I've just watched the Valiant Player highlights (I was at the game too) and time and time again his first touch was terrible and it just bounced off him.

I don't think there's a single person who believes Reg is the finished article, but he looked 10 times more interested than Forrester does. He has clearly been working on his heading, and whilst his footwork is poor he uses his chest to good effect. At present he offers nuisance value, and as long as someone else is scoring then I'd say he's well worth persevering with.

After all if we don't know what to expect from him, what hope have the opposition got?

I want him to do well, as I do all Vale players. He just frustrates the hell out of me!

He's 6'5 so should be a nightmare for defenders but he's so weak and soft. He needs someone like Pope coaching him then he'd improve!

Reg is going to score a hatful for someone - just hope its Vale. There were times his control was dire, but there were also times it was superb. The thing he does well is bringing other players into the game. I think he's one of the most space aware players I've seen at Vale for sometime.

If he keeps playing like he did on Saturday then I won't be complaining. He needs beefing up a little - that I agree with, then again he wins a lot of free kicks.
