Season Ticket Fiasco

I agree - ridiculous and petty.

 

They need to use their common sense and intelligence a bit more and less playing by the rulebook.

 

It was obvious there was a queue and the game was about to begin.

 

(Years ago I once turned up 10 minutes late on a Friday night for a friendly game at a Div 2 Club's home ground.

There must have been about 800 in attendance, maximum.

By the time I got there the turnstiles - on that side of the ground at least - had been closed. Luckily there was a big wooden double gate open, a bit like the one at the Vale by the ticket office. There was a steward standing there and a policeman just behind him. I could virtually watch the game from there as you are quite close to the pitch at that ground.

So I cheerfully went up to the steward and held open my palm containing whatever it was - about £4-5 - that was all for a low key friendly and told him I was pleased the gate was still open otherwise I couldn't get in.

You know what's coming! No - he said you can't come in here. I argued the toss - politely - explaining that the turnstiles had closed because I was late and that I'd travelled 15 miles and there were only a few hundred there anyway and the money was there in my hand ready to hand over. I wasn't trying to get in without paying. At that, the policeman decided to put on a show of strength and told me to leave the ground or he'd arrest me!

Needless to say, I did not ever go back and I was a season ticket holder for several years. I wrote to the Club but never got a reply.

You are right - customer care can be abysmally inept and in the long run the Club loses).
