Oatcake Day is in its fourth year and we are proud to announce the headline act for our Sugarmill show is the legendary Glen Matlock, bass player in the iconic punk band The Sex Pistols. Glen will be performing an acoustic set including songs from The Sex Pistols and new material. This will happen on Thursday August 8th 2013 at the NME Midlands small venue of the year – The Sugarmill in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent.

Back in the mid 1970s, Glen was a founder member of the Pistols alongside Johnny Rotten, Steve Jones and Paul Cook. He left the band in 1977 and was replaced by Sid Vicious (with whom he later formed another band called Vicious White Kids).

Matlock then formed a new band called The Rich Kids. This band featured Rusty Egan, Steve New and a pre Ultravox Midge Ure. Also an early member of the band was Mick Jones who left to rejoin The Clash. Check out Glen Matlock’s official website for more details about Glen:

Oatcake Day founder Terry Bossons said "The Sugarmill gig has become a huge part of the whole Oatcake Day celebrations, this year I have pulled in another great headline act in Glen Matlock from The Sex Pistols. The support bands are all local (Dirty Rotten Souls, South Wall Corner Club and Shae), thanks to collaboration with Lee Barber from Radicals Rising - who epitomise the local scene. There is going to be some great surprises on the night, plus the Oatie Mostons oatcake van will be back outside again"

Tickets are price £7 (plus booking fee) and are available from Music Mania in Hanley or by going to http://www.thesugarmill.co.uk

Money raised on the night will go to community station 6 Towns Radio's FM bid.
