As I was born in and lived in for the first 13 years of my life - Bryan Street, up 'Anley duck, and home of the Owd Rec I can see what you are saying.

 

But in those days from what I remember (1949 onwards) many fans supported both clubs.

 

But since 1950 Vale's home has been Boslem and fans of both clubs have become more insular to one team or the other so I think its very fair that PVFC are now looking to cement a relationship with Boslem, before being part of Stoke on Trent.

 

Although I don't know it for fact I think the Council and MP are keen for Vale to play a major part in the regeneration of Boslem (rather than Stoke on trent per se) and it wouldn't surprise me if within 15 years the club becomes Burslem Port Vale again.

 

Well, after all Burslem is the Mother town of the potteries, although Hanley has since the 19th century been the largest town. There have been rumours in the past that we can never use the name Burslem Port Vale, perhaps Prince Charles can intervene, as he has a Burslem potbank.

Maybe as King he would prefer Royal Burslem, or as they say in Spain, Real Burslem. Has a ring to it, maybe a twinning of clubs? Perhaps not, we have had enough change for a while.
