Carlisle have signed goalkeeper Harry Lewis from Bradford for a reported fee of £125k. They also signed Luke Armstrong from Harrogate for a decent fee. Wrexham bid £500k for Armstrong in the summer so god knows how much they've paid. Carlisle do have new American owners though.

Two brilliant signings. But they need them, Carlisle fan was on the match thread saying they haven’t paid close to that for Armstrong

  2. Great signing for Oldham. He’s far too good for that level. Shame it’s not worked here as he was brilliant in our promotion season, think that injury has really hampered him. Thought he would end up in league 2 or with DC. Wish him all the best

Our current loanees have been a mixed bag really haven't they.

Arblaster - Obviously an excellent prospect. Did expect him to get one or two more goals than he did for us, but still did a great job and leaves with everyone's best wishes.

Devine - Not as big on him as some people here. I mean he's a talented little player but considering all the hype he came with, his stats leave a bit to be desired. Would no doubt be much better next season on the back of a full season in League One. Needs to have a big second half of the season for us if we're to stay clear of those relegation spots.

Thomas - Has a bit of pace but not much else. Still young and raw so hard to judge properly. May as well have left the club months ago really.

Balmer - Looks miles away even at this level. Constantly looks like he's terrified of making a mistake, and makes them too often.

I think Devine will be class in a side going for promotion. I did prefer Arblaster though. Thomas very average , Balmer not league 1

Fair enough if you have an agenda against him. The personal issues were linked to a death in his family. The other seasons he was playing under 23 football when not with us, not out injured.

No agenda what so ever, I posted that he, grant and Wilson are injury prone. Though the personal issues were gambling, unless this is earlier

For me there was enough there in the summer for us to target someone else and I think that’s been proven this season. Be interesting to know how many starts he had in a row before getting some kind of knock, before this bad injury.

I have no doubt at all that i will be on my own here but i actually think that Loft will come good(he wont be a top scorer) with a pacy striker alongside him and a run of games

Not at this level. His track record backs this up. He’s just not a league 1 player, league 2 at best and he’s pretty average for that level. And we paid a fee for him

Again not true. First loan spell for us played 40 odd games, second loan spell he signed just before covid. 3rd loan spell was ended due to personal reasons not injury. First season at Accrington he did have an injury but played about 30 games.

Played 25 league games for Accrington that season. Regardless of the reasons he didn’t play much in the years prior as I posted. He was a risky signing at the time in my opinion with the personal issues and I don’t think it’s paid off.

He was also out for them for a month or so last season. (Injured)

Radio Stoke are saying that we want to sign Michael Mellon.

That is never going to happen

Could be a similar situation to Arblaster. Burnley may want to try in him in league 1. Be a decent bit of business for us - I guess Thomas will go back if he hasn’t already

We let 11 players go, in Summer and brought in 13 (4 on loan). We've since then sustained about 12 injuries - how the Hell are we supposed to legislate for that? Would you have broken any budget by bringing in another 12 players, just in case? Is that how you'd approach any transfer window? Bring in double the number of players we need, in case we get some injuries?

Stop signing injury prone players maybe?

It can’t come as a shock that players like Grant, Clarke and Wilson have been injured.

Maybe approach a window where we don’t go for players with poor injury records.

I think we have different definitions of extremely weak.

Ripley, Debrah, Clark, Funso, Garrity, and Chislett will start for us next season. 6 good starters.

Smith, Yak, Jones, and Plant would probably be squad players.

Lowe, Loft, McDermott we'd probably look to shift.

Having over half of your starting 11 secured for next season, all of whom I'd class as 'good' at this level, isn't bad in League 1. It means we don't need a rebuild.

I certainly wouldn't class it as extremely weak.

How many games will Clarke and Ojo play? Smith and plant are ok squad players. Yak and jones aren’t at this level. Jones never fit either. Agree on loft, smith and McDermott.

Disagree with you overall squad needs a lot of improving in the summer

Players signed up for next year:

    Ripley

    Smith

    Yak

    Debrah

    Lowe

    Jones

    Clark

    Plant

    Funso

    Garrity

    Chislett

    McDermott

    Loft

Then there are the youth-teamers who aren't on professional terms yet.

There's a very reasonable core in there. Wingback and forwards are the key areas for development long-term. Might see a few U23 signings in those areas this month.

    Is it?

It’s extremely weak. I would say only half of that list are good enough and one of those is injury prone. We’re crying out for a decent centre back as well.

It does if Derby want him and he fancies being closer to home. Although it means that he won't be able to play for Sheffield United this season

He’s still at league 1. In a brand new environment. When staring in a league 1 side were loved by fans. Makes literally no sense
