It doesn't bother me because they are loans at the end of the day. I just have an issue with season long loans which I think is a bit of a farce.

If we can compliment Gore and Weir with a loan striker and a couple of permanent signings at WB that would be a good window for me despite losing Blaster and Devine.

For me it’s great if we can get decent permanent signings alongside, granted not easy this window. Looking forward to seeing these two though. I think they will both be above this level. Be fantastic window if we complement these loans with a permanent LWB and striker imo

On paper that is a tremendous signing and shows how far the club have progressed in 18 months.

Does seem it. I guess we will see when he plays men’s football but him and Williams are ridiculous signings for us really, only issue for me is like the previous loans, they’ll go onto bigger and better things very quickly.

Football has changed. You don't have to like it but you have to accept it. You look a bit idiotic if you don't.

Why do you have to accept it? If I team is struggling and towards the bottom why would that be acceptable?

Think I can more succinctly argue this by saying that the payoff for what we're doing now is going to be in 2-3 seasons time - and even that isn't guaranteed. We're playing quite dull possession football, signing loan players who inevitably get recalled, and giving minutes to young players who probably aren't ready in the hope that we get the rewards in 2027.

The possession football makes us a more attractive proposition to both technical lower-league players, and Category 1 academies. By developing Devine and Arblaster we now have a track record of development to sell to Man City, Liverpool, and Man Utd. By playing Dipepa, Lomax, and Shorrock, we show the top 15 year olds in the country that there's a concrete pathway.

That's fine if you're getting paid to oversee it, but less fine if you're paying to watch it.

The challenge is bringing the fans into the process and achieving buy-in, even if some never will. It's making each week just about entertaining enough to avoid the fans turning and the DoF/Owner facing real pressure to bin off a project they'd committed 5 years to.

Are the young lads we have that good is it is a consequence of a poor squad that’s injury prone. Shorrock looks a decent prospect, to be honest I’m not convinced on dipepa or lomax, they’re still very young so loads of time to develop but we should be pinning on hopes on players who only got a game because the likes of Massey and Loft have been so poor.

A plan is all well and good but isn’t an excuse for boring football, we’ve seen recently that when his hand is forced Crosby can get us playing a more exciting style.

Id be shocked if there are many sides out there where they’ve set out a 5 year plan and it’s worked / not deviated from the original plan. I’m not sure I want to watch another 5 years of this in the hope that one of our younger players comes good in 2027. There has to be more of a plan than sign good loan players and lose them when they’re recalled as we aren’t progressing. We also only just stayed up last season and this season is following a similar path. We need improvements now as well having this longer term plan, it can’t be one or the other

Not confirmed . Sounds like maybe they got preferred targets . Don’t think it’s a secret we have signed injury prone players and we understand the gamble of that . Wilson being a good example ,

but he got us promotion almost single handed

that might be flitctofts answer at the forum if anyone asks . Uche might keep us up this season as well

Yes it was confirmed he failed medical at numerous clubs, Barnsley being one of them. DF confirmed this.  Wilson was a risk worth taking due to his quality and imo Uche was as well given our striker issues for me it’s just a bit strange he would fail a medical now.

Where did he fail a medical ? Never heard that pearl before. You would assume a football medical in lower league football would be pretty standard

He failed it at a number of clubs, one was Barnsley but there was more than one. DF even said we put the work in with him so he could pass the medical with us. You would expect so but i find it odd how Uche could fail a medical now

Well if you have broken your leg before, then it will not be the same as when you were born. When I was 5 I had no injuries, as you age things go wrong. How can you legislate for a freak injury that surgery has corrected. Some people are unlucky in all walks of life re health/fitness.

Hopefully Jesse is able to sort injury issues out. If we wanted to buy a player in a contact sport that wont get injured, do they exist?

Back on topic I am sure we follow a procedure that Vale as a club adhere too. They wont say we take a risk  a player, due to insurance.

Which players do we have out with freak injuries? Most have picked up injuries throughout their career.

I dont for one minute think we are going pay a big fee for Jake Taylor but the lad is 21/22 scored 16 in 20 for a mid table team just one league below so would have a potential sell on value but you say underwhelming.... that imo is unbelievable,i am very interested to find out which striker you would be happy with us signing?

His record before last season is probably why some would suggest underwhelming. I’m more for the signing than against, but that is a concern of mine

Ah brilliant another young loan player that if half decent will be snapped up by someone else. Got be some permanent players available surely - if he signs then hopefully he’s better than the last one of palace and better than our recent LWB loanees!

Yes, well worth watching. Lots of poor league 2 defending but there's no doubting the quality of this lad. Bradford seem to want a packet for him if even Carlisle's minted owners won't pay the asking, so I doubt he's in our price range. Some nice goals though, making me wonder when the last time was we had such a prolific striker (think he bagged 16 in 20 games).

Ryan loft looks good on YouTube best moment videos. I’m a bit apprehensive on this one if true, fantastic record this season but really poor prior to it. Bradford deemed him not good enough in Jan.

What “impression” does selling a proven league 1 striker to a rival on the very same points in January when we are not safe in the division give you?

It doesn’t give me the impression of a club dedicated to wanting to stay in the division. It gives me the impression that they feel we can gamble with the club’s league status.

Something that worries me. I think we gambled last January and only just got away with it (not due to anything good that we did) I hope we aren’t going to follow suit this window

How? He receives the ball very well in areas where most players cant. Skipping alot of passing and messing about at the back. Once he has the ball he can drive and shoot or pass out to wingers. We have all seen him at the vale receiving the ball from the keep with 2 men on him and then turn them both and have crack on gole or pass it out to a winger instantly starting an attack. Any way you put it just him being up there creates chances. Within 10 seconds of ripley passing it to him and receiving it we are normally on the attack. I want 200k for him or we might regret selling him at all.

Because he only has 6 months left on his contract and has scored 1 goal. I agree with you about his qualities, I rate him. But I don’t think he’s worth that much with his contract situation personally
