That actually looks ok tbf but if he is fit I would sooner see Plant there than Massey, also if Jones isn't fit then Shorrock
Don’t ask me why but I’d put Massey up front instead of Loft,Chiz on the right. If fit I’d move Garrity to play behind Massey and as Grant alongside Ojo. Lots of ifs and buts as we don’t know what formation we’ll be playing. How far off is Gore.?

As rubbish as its been it only takes 1 result to change the mentality of players and fans alike giving optimism, hope and even a it of confidence for the remainder of the season.
I have no logical explanation but I really fancy us tonight to get something from the game.
New manager bounce in full effect.
MBE, I think that’s what we’re all hoping and praying for. To do that though you’ve got to want to win and honestly I’m m struggling to pick out many winners in our team. No one on here wants us to be relegated and would love to see things turn around.if we only stay up on goal difference. For me Moore’s experience and I think motivation, is our last roll of the dice.

I don't see how folk can see it as a guaranteed lose .
There's no pressure on Vale tonight they should have free coaches on for original 800 odd who went (Reading pay for them that is ) )with a very low turnout we can play with the freedom of Leyton Orient 205 fans Stevenage 195 who managed get positive results at Vale Park.
I personally think we will win seen2 magpies this morning that's 2 for joy
Be just like Vale perform when no one's there
Reading 8/11 draw 11/4 Vale 16/5. You don’t see a bookie on a bike.

We are like them! They've all been relegated from this tier of English football recently and have been bopping between the lower leagues as you'd expect. Lincoln have even been out of the football league entirely in recent years.
Are we in a position where we want to replace the director of football every time we get relegated from the third tier now? If we want to be more like Northampton Town we'll be going through quite a few of them as they're up and down like Tower Bridge.
No Rory, we just want transparency and ethics. No more BS.

Exactly. I think Liverpool won the league one year in the 70s with 14 players. Just doesn't happen today. The grossly inflated Champions League has a lot to answer for. The old European Cup was a direct knockout. You could win it by playing a handful of games. Again it all boils down to money.
I heard Souness on the radio, he was referring to a season where they used 15 players in all competitions one season and played 65 games. It was the same interview where he said they got a rollicking for passing sideways or backwards and that was just in training. He said that Ronnie Moran would say I’m 50 and can pass sidewards or backwards, so pass it forwards.

He doesn't have to, he's safe as houses...
Aguar, is he.? We’ll see how safe he is when fans refuse to buy season tickets. I’m not a person who would start a protest but I am on this matter and would encourage ppl not to renew. This is the only language that’ll be understood. They’ve taken us for mugs and think that by appointing DM will appease the fans and we’ll all believe it’s showing ambition. Ambition would have been signing the players we needed in January. Just got lucky with Devine and Arblaster

CS is right he has bought in more than his salary and that’s because the Fliquidator has sold all our Crown Jewels.

What is this power that has transferred?

Imo obviously the cost to terminate the services of either individuals. Can’t see DM having players that aren’t picked by himself or his backroom team. At the moment DM has come to us following an unsuccessful time at Huddersfield, so he’ll want to be in charge of his own destiny. Where as, AC definitely wasn’t and was always going to be the one to go.
-
FC I think three might have been a crowd but now that DM has come in and can manage and knows what the game is all about at higher levels than ourselves, it most definitely is a crowd. Also all the power was the owners and him, I think the power has now transferred to the owner and DM. Who would it be cheaper to get rid of, DoF or manager on a 5.5 yr contract with clauses and his back room team.?

Wow, that’s some travelling. 👏👏 Surely there’s a team closer that play in black and white so that you don’t need to buy another scarf.

We can’t sign anyone who was under contract at 11pm on 1st Feb.
Re Dwight Gayle. He signed a five year contract at Newcastle in 2016. When his contract expired he was given a new one by Ashley on £60k a week when everyone thought he would be released. It was only because Ashley couldn’t be bothered to find another striker even thought it was obvious Gayle was, by that time, simply not a Prem League striker. When he signed for Stoke Newcastle continued to pay £40k a week of his wages. Stoke have now paid him off and his last Newcastle contract expires in June. I don’t know if he will still be getting paid the £40k a week by them but it certainly appears he is not short of a few quid so five bob a week should get him!!!
Jean, how come you have such a good knowledge of NUFC.?

If we can manage to stay up and cant offload Loft, perhaps we need to be a bit more resourceful and play him at centre half. The only problem I can think of is would we need permission from SoT council, for a loft conversion.

If we were to sign DG, perhaps he could come on a deal similar to what Cruyff had when he returned to Ajax who were going through a bad time. He wasn’t on any regular amount, he knew what the average crowd was and he received 50% of the gate above the average. That would motivate anyone.

Weirdly quiet response to the podcast, which I personally found very illuminating. Really sad to hear how the abuse has affected DF and also his family. Nobody deserves that just from trying to do their job.
Phil, I haven’t listened to the podcast and no one deserves any type of abuse and his family definitely shouldn’t. I don’t think he would object to fans questioning his role or having been told that he’s responsible for everything that touches the ball, requesting that he stands aside.

It would appear the plan fell apart late on deadline day. If there was a plan B it was too late to follow it.
JRC, surely we should have been active and not just relying on one person. Especially with our form.

DM usually plays 3 5 2 so I expect that was part of the reason as to why he was recruited
The two is interesting though - not sure how we play 2 up front currently
Emile, surely we wouldn’t appoint someone because of the formation that they play. We need to be more fluid and not so rigid, depending on who we play. We need to make the opposition think about what formation we’re going to play during the game, not days beforehand. Isn’t that the whole idea of not releasing the team until just before the game. I hope DM is his own man and plays different formations to our strengths.
I was in a private message the other day with someone on here, so they can take the credit for this question.
We spent nothing in the transfer window, but then we’ve suddenly found the money to appoint DM his backroom staff and we’ll still need a forward and possibly other players.- 2

It's pretty clear the manager did have some say and the priority was a centreforward. The problem was we failed to get the deal over the line in the final hours of the window. If we'd signed a decent centreforward I think it would have been a good window. Sadly it seem we failed in the final hour.
So are you saying we only had one iron in the fire, so no plan B then.

There is a great video behind the scenes documenting GIbbo’s loan signing at Cambridge Utd.
I can’t believe we weren’t interested in him. Type of character we are missing.
MBE, thank you very interesting and enlightening. It details the all complications and just how protracted it can be to sign a player. With this knowledge it must be very frustrating for a football club when it takes so long to identify a player and then to get the deal done. It could take a whole window from start to finish, just to bring a player into a club. This makes me ask the question as our season was falling apart, why was AC allowed to continue as our manager after the beginning of December.? The manager must have some say in who he would like to come into the club, it can’t just be the decision of the DoF.

Stoke mate just called round to visit me. Obviously chat turned to football.
He was incredulous as an ex manager that Flitcroft didn't take the reins last night. I just said it shows the calibre of the bloke that he'd rather chuck Ryder under the bus instead.
Darren. TBH I think if he had got into the dug out, it would have cost a lot in security
