  1. They must think we're stupid. I mean we are, but we're not that stupid.
  2. When he came in there was talk on here of him saving Liverpool £50 million in the summer and all his Champions League experience. I think the same with Dave really, blinded to the reality by the possibilities of magical Christmas land
  3. I think we may never know. Either: 1) He picked up or was discovered to have some injury issue whilst with us. Maybe a scan picked something up from a niggle he's been carrying. 2) "personal issues"
  4. He played for the unofficial B team in the Scottish Challenge Cup
  5. Apparently the long-term plan is that the Premier League youngsters on loan will end up not being necessary as we will be producing similar level talent from our own academy. So if you want to imagine it on the pitch then just picture Gore and Weir as our own players.
  6. Interest-free loan for the scoreboard. The club paid for the pitch as far as I'm aware.
  7. You make it sound like Robbie personally tore the pitch up! Yeah it's galling to see the adoration and general smoke being blown up the backside of a bloke who is somewhat of a knob. But I believe it's a calculated risk from Carol, definitely more so than her being a Robbie Williams fan. Give him the concert, give him the title of president, make him feel welcome and loved. Then maybe he'll put his hand in his pocket and help the club out. If not then what has been lost? The pitch was a bit damaged and ended up being dug out anyway for much-needed drainage improvements. Yeah it'd be nice if it was the Charlie Holland suite or something, but this is how the world is. And Robbie is a lifelong Vale fan, as well as a multi-millionaire global megastar. No harm at all in reaffirming his association with the club, not like he's Harold Shipman or Nigel Farage or something.
  8. Close. He came out of the West Ham academy and we gave him a one year deal, but he never played for us
  9. Don't think we can afford 18 million mate
  10. Cheye Alexander‎ has been released from Gillingham today. Guess he must have a new club lined up already. He is a wing-back
  11. Eight points between 10th and 20th, but the bottom four are a little ways behind. Though in fact Reading would be above us without their points deduction and we'd be out of the relegation zone on goal difference. However, Reading are in fact in crisis and the three below them have also had calamitous campaigns so far. Clarke may get Cheltenham clear but with the points we have already accumulated and the games we have in hand then there's no excuses for us to fall into the drop this year. Eight points off the top ten should be our focus.
  12. Not that part. The protesting cuz he's stopped funding them. They're protesting to stop the club being liquidated. Financial mismanagement by overspending being followed by the owner cutting funds off is what kills clubs dead. Not a Valiant 2001 slow decline into administration, but a rapid collapse into oblivion and non-existence. edit: anyway this is all offtopic when the topic is our January incomings and outgoing
  13. You make yourself look silly saying things like that
  14. Just Barrow. Dual registration is only a thing in non-League
  15. These "season-long loans" seem to be half-seaon loans in reality. If the loan is a success then they are recalled and given a new challenge, if they are a failure then they are recalled and given a new chance elsewhere. Still, thank you for your time Devine
  16. You're implying they would have to choose between spending £50 million on a new player or use Rhys Williams. Liverpool will have Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dyke, Ibrahim Konarte, Joel Matip and Jarell Quansah ahead of Williams in the pecking order regardless of what he does here. They also have Sepp van den Berg, Anderson Arroyo, Billy Koumetio and Nat Phillips to call on, plus whatever talent is sitting in the various youth teams. He has a very slim chance of ever playing for Liverpool in the near future. As Andy Crosby said: "he comes into the squad and instantly enhances our defensive options". Hell of a long way from being an "option" at Vale to getting near the first-team at Liverpool. Let's see if he becomes a nailed on starter here every week and take ti from there.
  17. Fantastic talent, just a question of fitness / injuries and has he got the correct mental attitude to be a professional footballer. Pretty much make it break for him. If he fails here then he'll be gone from Liverpool and looking for another "last chance" elsewhere. If he succeeds then it's possible he'll play a tenth Premier League game sometime
  18. Seems like a waste of time calling any loan "season-long" these days
  19. Walsall then Swindon. You sure can pick 'em Mr Flynn!
  20. Perhaps one of the top 50 if it's just English goalkeepers
  21. Paterson has spent the last five-and-a-half years coaching at moved into coaching with Tampa Bay Rowdies, Fort Lauderdale, Inter Miami, Barnsley and Swansea City. I don't know what they've seen on him, but managers have to be given a first job somewhere. Burton have a history of giving excellent managers their first big job. Having said that, not a name I ever expected to go into management and it wouldn't be a surprise if it doesn't go well.
  22. By the time Andy Jones was 25 we'd sold him to Charlton and they were pestering us to see if we'd take him back!
  23. He joined Brighton on a three year deal in 2020 and there's been no news reports of him signing another contract. He must have done though else he'd be a free agent now.
  24. Indeed. 22 this month and only played at League One level, so Brighton are probably okay with letting him go for free in the summer. We want good League One performers, even if Brighton are far above that these days.
