  1. If Flitcroft had taken the team on Tuesday, we'd played the same and lost 0-1, even that would have started to mellow the fans a little bit. It shows we're united, he was prepared to step up and even though it failed he's doing everything he can. He left the academy manager to manage the first team with 24 hours notice, despite being a seasoned league manager. Thousands of words in an open letter, that single act writes many more.

Well it is what it is. Can't do anything about it now. Nice little change in formation for tomorrow please. Going to be interesting come 2pm Saturday to see the line up and formation. Time for the old heads to step up and get behind the young uns, like Ben was doing before he got injured.
Strangely looking more forward to tomorrow now to see what on earth is going to happen emoji12.png

    Can't say it's not interesting.

  3. I think it was more pressing to get a CB in than a LWB. We had one early, then for whatever reason had to pivot and get a different one in. That will have been a distraction but the outcome looks better than a) nobody signing b) sticking with Williams. That's a significant base covered and will earn points I'm sure.

My issue exactly with what we are doing at the moment. Developing other sides players and constantly going back to square 1 ourselves when they leave

If we could guarantee a season long loan, where all the work we did with Arblaster and Devine would now push us on in the 2nd half of the season, it would be really useful. But that threat of recall and having to have one eye on other options constantly puts the management under huge extra pressure and weakens our season.

Yep. Four loan players out, three loan players in.

That makes it looks like a farm that we only get the basic benefit out of. Take our player, have him go from largely incompetent to pretty decent over a space of 2 months, then we'll take them back when you've enjoyed a few games of reaping the developmental awards, only to send them somewhere higher. Meanwhile, you start again but half way through the season.

As mentioned on my Portsmouth post I would be looking to get Grant as a midfield option with one of Gore or Weir until Ojo is back to avoid what we saw at the weekend with the two together, needs an experienced head there and Grant hasn't done it at LWB for me.

In terms of relegation, disaster for us fans and probably the club in general but I would be less worried than the previous two relegation's because I think we'd have a strong chance of challenging rather than need 4-5 years again, the club whatever we think of Flickers etc isn't in a bad in hows its run and the one part that probably would benefit is the youth players, you'd fancy Shorrock, Walters, Plant and Lomax to certainly make a good impact as League Two players and probably help their development.

Ripley would be under contract, you'd assume Debrah, Smith, Grant and Yak would be decent in L2, Jones still under contract and we should still be able to get decent loan players.

We'd struggle to keep Ojo I would think, Chislett and Garrity but as all under contract it would depend on valuations being met and or our desire to sell.

I think we'd be up there challenging but as we know its not easy to get back up so need to do all we could to avoid it. We would have no excuses not to be play off challengers minimum especially considering some of the big spenders will be promoted this season.

Ojo is on a contract ending in 2025.

I will be really happy when he signs his new deal because for me while Plant is injured he is the stand out player from the young lads, his cameo yesterday was very good as was his turn when he turned his man and attacked down the left... he has to start on Saturday for me

Going forward I think it’s good that he’s so weeny because any shoulder barge is gets sends him flying - automatic foul. Or he’s tricky enough to get the ball in the box. Obviously the edge to that is defending he could get shrugged off but he seems to hold his own. Plant and Shorrock on the left, Grant moved to cover the middle. This is in a parallel universe where we actually have a choice of players.
