Lads & Dads Teams/Leagues

Anyone know of any leagues in the area that are running? My 8 year old son is keen to get involved in a team, he's not the best but keen as mustard to play, ideally starting next season but i would like to have a look around this year to get an idea of what is involved. Thanks

I'm the secretary for a local junior club. We have four age groups currently (all very oversubscribed) ranging from 8-15 year olds. Any questions you want to know about any of the local leagues just ask as I have experience of them all and they all kind of offer different standards. Is he in Year 2 or Year 3 of Primary School as we may be able to offer some coaching for him until the end of the season?

 

It is my opinion that for kids starting out Lads and Dads is the best approach. Milton runs a proper old school Lads and Dads league where the players are pooled I believe still. Teams in the North Staffs Junior Youth League tend to be a bit more serious so choosing a club out of there require a bit more thought and testing the water. Finally the Potteries Mini-League tends to attract the local big boys such as Stone Domines, Newcastle Town, Biddulph Town, Norton etc. so many of the kids are hand picked and taking a kid to a trial there may be a little demoralising with all due respect. I can get you numbers of teams wherever you see fit :)
