I was looking forward to the 'On This Day' fact but Rob had to turn it off unfortunately. Has anything else significant ever happened in the club's history on a leap day?

 

The only time I remember us playing a game on a February 29th was in 1992. I can remember it because some woman went on the pitch at half time and proposed to her fella. You're allowed to do that apparently. We lost 1-0 at home to Newcastle United.

Was that the game where the great Scouse pudding Micky Quinn scored from miles out? Keegan was managing the Toon if I remember correctly.

That was the season before, under Jim Smith I think.

 

This was just after Keegan took over. It was during our 17 game run without a win in the relegation season. We started off pretty well but got sucker punched. I can remember a bit of a goalmouth scramble and Steve Watson blasting the ball into the roof of the net past about three players on the line.

 

For some reason I also remember Kenty getting loads of the ball down the right but not getting any decent delivery into the box.
