Stoke City Community Trust

Recommended Posts

What do they do? And am I going to hell for not donating? Somebody at work is collecting sponsorship for their kid doing a penalty shootout at the primary school in Newcastle, with half of the money going to the school and half to the Stoke City FC Community Trust.

Seems a bit unfair to me. Surely with all the cash floating around in the Premiership (and Bet365) they're wealthy enough to fund this themselves and instead, all the money goes to the school?

I'm thinking of giving her my sponsorship as a direct cash donation to the school instead. Or 50% direct to the school and 50% to the Port Vale Community Trust.

I can honestly say that the lads I have dealt with at the SCFC Community trust are brilliant. My son regularly trains with them, they have opened up a route to their academy (even though he hasn't got in), completed on the pitch training at the Bet365, which is far more than Vale have ever done as far as I'm concerned unless your kid goes to Haywood! As a Vale fan through and through it pains me at times to take him to the Stoke training, but as far as I can tell, they are only doing good things for young kids wanting to play football, whatever their standard! I agree though SCFC should do more to fund this, especially with the £'s they have been getting from the prem!

This Stoke and community thing sticks in my craw.

When the 28,000 seater council house was built in 1997 with the generous help of the City Council, it only got passed by calling it a “Community Stadium” which, supposedly, could be used by the community.

This of course this never materialised. Indeed a friend of mine continually rang The Britannia trying to book a badminton court !

To even rub salt into the wound, according to law the organisation who held the safety certificate can determine what Events take place at that particular venue.

Despite the City Council basically owning the stadium(as they owned the majority of shares), guess who held the safety certificate ? Hence countless pop concerts to which our city cousins raked in the profits.

Consequently, I have scant regard for anything to do with the Lardies and their “community” activities.

The whole scenario with their new stadium still leaves a sour taste in my mouth, so I can never give any support for their “community” activities.
