Fair enough that and some good points but how does he get 15 goals and a decent number of assists if he gets dropped ofter one game because he missed a chance. He is playing ina fairly new side that needs time to gel. I believe in him but he needs games, if we chop and change the team every game we wont get anywhere. The longer these guys play together the better they will get. A settled side will reap benefits

Don't think he should be dropped at the moment he needs a run of 3 or 4 games to see if he can do the job. He had a reasonable game on Saturday. I think his pass to Byron Moore for Moore's goal last season was the best assist of the season and Dodds is the only player we have who could see that pass. My issue is that he only has one assist in each of the last 3 seasons (and only 4 goals in each of the last 2), which isn't good enough for an attacking midfield player (through the middle or out wide) or a forward. I fully appreciate what he is capable of, but if he isn't delivering after 3 or 4 games someone else needs to be given his chance.

I think Dodds would have a better assist record if he hadnt been playing behind Pope when he was still suffering the effects of his injury or playing behind "panick and scuff the shot" willo. His ability to not only see but deliver a cutting pass marks him out as different from other players who are challenging for his shirt.

Other options like playing daniel or andoh in that spot may work better I dont know but I think Dodds deserves better than the stick he gets every time he makes a mistake. Perhaps we could try two up front at home and play Dodds behind away.

Maybe, although we've struggled at home when we've played a front 2 and lost out by being overrun in midfield. I think plan A was to play Foley just behind the front player, but things have panned out to give Dodds his chance. Hopefully he'll take it with both hands, starting tonight.
