If we go down I think Garrity and Ojo will be gone
Agree we need a clear out but that might be difficult unless we pay some contracts up

Ojo has two more years on his contract, so he'll stay unless there's a pay reduction clause for relegation.  I think Chis will go as well, if we go down.

Definitely between the 3 of us fighting for 2 spots, thought Cheltenham would win today but can see in their next 4 games, them winning 3, they have Carlisle and Bristol Rovers at home who are dreadful lately and a Orient side on the beach and a woeful Burton away, minimum we need is 4 wins, can see us finishing ahead of Burton but think Cheltenham will send us down.

Carlisle whopped Posh 3-1 away last week!  It's a topsy turvy time of the season.  You never know what will happen!

At 17 and being selected ahead of any other forward for England, that is a clear indication he’s becoming the considered one of the best striker in the country for his age. Being picked ahead of premier league youth players… What we should be saying is what clubs aren’t looking at him, you’d have to think most premier league clubs will be taking a look.

It’s great press for the club and a massive positive for the continued youth production line we’ve been churning out.

Keep smashing it BP, lovely being linked to the likes of United.

United?  Very John Motson. Could you be referring to Newcastle United, Leeds United, West Ham United?

It was lousy defending... They stood off him. Any Sunday league defender would d have put a boot on the ball!

Rubbish. I say the same about Maradonna's 'goal of the century' against England. Sansom, Fenwick, Butcher all stood off, frightened to tackle.

  5. Well worth the trip over! After last year's visit to Accrington I saw a world of difference in yesterday's performance. It wasn't pretty first half but I've seen us cave this season under that kind of pressure. They were a big outfit and we repelled all boarders at those long throws and free kicks.
Second half there was only one team trying to play football but i thought it was going to be one of them days when Ben's header thumped the post in front of us. Credit to 'em though and the goal was after brilliant work from Lofty in different ways. Again, when Blackman,(how big is he?) got a touch on Chizzy's shot and it trickled against the post I thought we'd shot it but Loft, Loft will tear you apart again. Cue limbs around me and at 66 my bad knees and hip just about stood up to it!
Thought Loft was excellent all game....not the most accomplished of centre forwards I've ever seen but looks like he may be settling in. I've seen where people said he nearly missed the goal...he didn't. It was right in front of me and he had to get it up and over the bodies throwing themselves at him. Good finish I thought. i thought he'd done everything right first half but seemed to just roll it the wrong side of the post.
Oh well, onwards and upwards with that effort and never say die defending.......doctor, there's still a pulse.
Off to get flight home but i'll be there in spirit on iFollow on Friday.

Brilliant, glad you got to see a decent game. Safe flight home!

  6. How Carol reacts to this is going to be a real litmus test.  She either has to invest or she will sell up.  She may well be feeling bitter and resentful that the fans have forced out her right hand man, against her wishes, having publicly backed him as she did.

She's probably at a crossroads in her personal life, too.  She's sold her business and is free to do what she wants.  Maybe the Vale experience has taken its toll?  We'll find out over the next few months, no doubt.

What price RW doing a Wrexham, getting a couple of wealthy pop mates to join him?

    Interesting times ahead, methinks.

Garrity was part of our promotion team whilst I’d have Worrall over Chislett any day and as for Wilson he seems to be doing his best to keep injury free before moving on in the Summer.
I agree about the defence though, Ripley apart they can all go for me. Major surgery is required during the next transfer window but I can’t see even that to be enough for us to challenge next season. There’s usually two ways to get out of L2: through money at it like Wrexham and Stockport or build season on season like Mansfield and Exeter have done. I really can’t see us doing a Wrexham.

There is a third way, but it's at the bottom of the league, not the top!

I’ll be sticking to my new pre-match routine for this one.  Bacon and tomato oatcakes and a large whisky chaser for breakfast, light lunch followed by 3 or 4 pints, then whatever beer I can fit in up at the fanzone before kick off and at half time.  It’s really made a big difference, and whilst I’m not seeing much of the games I’m  enjoying them much more.

I laughed out loud, GR.  Thank for cheering me up 😂😅👏👏

Have you not seen our new manager and his extended coaching team?

They are not going to be on an average wage

Disagree, Brian.  I think DM may have come on a lowish wage, mitigated by the fact he has it for 5.5 years.  He left the Owls suddenly, unexpectedly, and maybe (for whatever reason) his stock is not that high in football at the moment.  So 5.5 years on a reasonable wage might well have appealed.

Maybe Carol also thinks if DM does well he can move on and earn us a fee if he's on a long term contract?

Not saying any of this is good. I'd rather pay a manager a top wage, putting him on a 12 months rolling contract.

  10. I don't think it was coincidence that arguably our real and only purple patch of the season was when Uche got up to speed and was terrorising the opposition defenders.  Significantly, the minute he got injured (after the Club was prepared to let him go) that purple patch ended and we've been on a steep downward plunge ever since.  Whatever we were paying him was worth it.

  11. Answering the question 'Why', I think Carol is obviously an astute business woman.  But she is not a football person, and clearly doesn't have much of a clue about running a football club.  She needs someone experienced in running a club on board, to steer the football side of things.  And she's chosen Flitcroft to be that person.

Which is unfortunate. People with football in their veins, who've followed their team since first kicking a football, can see and appreciate things pretty clearly, can recognise a big mistake when one is made.  I don't think Carol has this ability, so she needs a Flitcroft.

Which is unfortunate.  She needs to chop off the ship's rudder and steer it herself whilst finding a new one.  I suspect she finds this a daunting prospect.  So the club continues to float along, seemingly rudderless, with The DoF 'steering'.

    Which is unfortunate....

To be honest there's been many a season where we have a bad run .

Years ago under Rudgey we had a terrible run where we couldn't score but lost narrowly .

Last season that ending of the season was downright rubbish .

    Accrington 3 Vale 0 Vale 0 Wycombe 3 Charlton 4 Vale 2 Vale 1 Plymouth 3

These r not narrow defeats these are big defeats .

    Terrible run terrible performances again

    Fleetwood 3 Vale 0

Derby 3 Vale 0 Reading 2 -0  0-2 Lincoln it's not just narrow defeats they are bad defeats the Fleetwood away and home second half performance were equally horrendous .

The no goal attempts on target v top 6 just to me shows a inferior complex it's 11 v 11 Nothing more nothing less .

How do you get out of a run like this

Get Uche back in and attack all game .

We cannot defend anyway may aswell if going down go down having a go .

The last 145 plus injury time minutes  that's not being the case between them Fleetwood and Derby have had numerous attempts at goal something like 36 on target and off target that's absolutely shambolic Vale .

Getting worse Moores going have create a miracle for Vale get out of this .

Yer Stoke fans I've spoke to at work all week before sat were saying the same about there team

No heart bottlers then Walters opens his gob and the players respond to that with a convincing 2 -0 win and now they have renewed hope (there support).

So this rut can be turned around hopefully

    Welcome back, Guest!

So how do you explain 3 wins out of 6 (and a credible draw against Leeds) since he has gone against Moores 3 wins out of 23?.

The creditable draw came with a lot of kicking, as I heard it!  And I'm not referring to the ball.

  14. It's interesting, sad and indicative of the problems in the Club at the moment, to read some of the scepticism on this thread.

I think most of this could have been avoided had there been better leadership and communication from the Club.  Is there a fan representative on the Board?  If not, one would be a very useful conduit for feeding back fans' feelings and concerns.
