How can we possibly sack Flickers? Who cares about the results and quality of our squad? All are irrelevant, small details This man loans in (teenage) players from Premier League teams (who are desperate to loan their players out. And he sold one of our (teenage) players to a (second bottom) Premier League team (who are hoovering up young teenage players and will likely loan him out again). That is the sign of a great DoF. We are truly not worthy.

To throw away a two goal lead in the last 5 minutes at home to a team 23rd in the league is absolutely unforgivable. Absolutely spineless. We are truly <ovf censored>. I’m only surprised we didn’t lose it right at the end

Would it be greedy to wish for a second goal before half time? When was the last time we had 2 goals before half time?

That’s the bit I don’t get. They must’ve had a plan in mind for him - target man, supporting striker etc etc. So why not play him that way instead of sticking him up front on his own when he has little pace, agility, heading, ball control. It’s not like he was a famous aging marquee player signed even though he is probably past his best. Used to get 20 a season and maybe will again. Has stats show he’s not a goalscorer. Watching him play shows he’s not a goalscorer. Flitcroft brought him in last summer, so what was their plan? Was there a second signing needed to play alongside him that we failed to get or something?

I’m sure he’s a great guy and is putting 100% effort in, but what did we bring Loft in to do? He doesn’t seem to be able to hold the ball up or pass well enough to be a target man, isn’t fast enough or have any sort of finishing skills (head or feet) to be more of a poacher. Pope had a similar physique and speed as Loft but he had great heading and scored a ton of goals. I don’t see Loft being able to score or set anyone up to score.

I’ve never been able to truly sum it up. But that is the comment right there. And him borrowing a few teenage players whose own parents forgot they played for Man U, Spurs etc is apparently what makes Carol think he is unsackable

It would appear, based on my work “inclusion and diversity” training course yesterday, that Carol inadvertently sees a metaphorical “halo” around Flitcroft. As soon as you make your mind up that you really like someone, you’ll do everything in your power to find positives and ignore negatives. That is why loaning players from Prem teams is wonderful…. And not actually loaning in any strikers is besides the point. Hopefully she can snap out of it.

It just feels like she’s been conned here. Flitcroft was given such easy targets and is now apparently unsackable because he met them. We got a good cup run by drawing the lowest ranked team in every round and scraped through each time. And it’s nothing to do with his directorship. Every League One club can loan in players from Premier League teams as these teams have massive squads. Every League One team gets players bought by bigger teams because these teams also have massive budgets. Players got promoted from the academy to the first team because we have a threadbare squad. He built a posh academy because he was given the money to do so. It’s not like he designed and built it himself And that he’s some kind of god for leaving his non-football job to come and work for us is pretty laughable. I could take the “difficult” decision to leave my job and come and work for Port Vale and I’m pretty sure I’d achieve exactly the same.

Just about ticked enough boxes to meet his targets… Sold a player to a bigger club (tick), loaned players from a Premier League team (tick). None of them are remarkable - every team loans/sells players from/to big teams, anyone could improve an academy if they had some money to spend. All of the things keeping him in his job would’ve happened with or without Flitcroft (promotion to League 1 included)
