Former Valiants: Mark Cullen set for Hartlepool Utd switch
Released Port Vale striker Mark Cullen looks set to join League Two rivals Hartlepool United.
The forward was one of fifteen players released by the Valiants in the summer. He has been training with Hartlepool for the past week and scored the third goal in their 9-1 friendly win over Runcorn Linnets.
Hartlepool manager Dave Challinor has indicated he wants to sign the 29 year-old telling the media: “Culls obviously knows the area and was at Port Vale last year so we know about him.
“He’s been in and we are hopeful that we might be able to do something, fingers crossed that’s the case. We know what he brings and he’s a goalscorer.”
If Cullen moves, it would continue busy summer transfer activity between the two clubs. The Valiants have signed defender Ryan Johnson from Hartlepool and also snapped up Lewis Cass on loan, a player who spent last season with United.
