We are going up! (Appreciation Thread)

I want to say I am so proud of everyone at the club - the players, management, new owners and most importantly the fans. There are also so many individuals who should be especially thanked - Rob Fielding, Martin Tideswell, NLV, supporters club and others who 'carried the flag' during the dark days (not that long ago). Their persistence and love of the club carried us all forward to what has been achived in such a short space of time. Just imagine what can be achieved from the solid base that we have now?

No matter how we got there (and yes I believe we have crawled over the line when we should have done it around the same time as Gillingham), promotion given the circumstances is an absolutely outstanding achievement and one every Vale fan should be very proud of. The reasons for this are many:

1. We are the first team I believe who were in administration at the start of the season to get promotion.

2. The administration affected the players we could bring in at the beginning of the season

3. Micky brought players in who had injury and consistency issues and they were a gamble

4. Our previous seasons in League 2 had seen us struggle to score goals.

5. Point 4. was compromised more by our top scorer in earlier seasons leaving the club

6. The Ryder deal collapsed and the great uncertainty could easily have had an effect on management and players

The above are only a few of many issues that affected us that could of derailed our season at any point. Yes their are questions and issues for Adams and his team to look at for next season. However that is for later. For now, every Vale fan should bask in the glory of what we have achieved in difficult circumstances. After all, there are 22 teams in League 2 at present who would give their right arm to be in our position today.

So many special memories from this season on a personal level including yesterday; the Boxing Day game at Rotherham, taking 3,300 to Sheffield Utd away in the FA Cup amongst others.

The superb following of 2,800 to Rochale last week which was the highest away League following of any club in the whole of League Two this season also deserves a mention.

Very few on here at the beginning of the season could have pictured a Vale Promotion, not to mention two of the last three home games pulling in 10,000+ Vale fans. Not in anyones wildest dreams.

It's been a rollercoaster ride, and I salute all Vale fans, the manager, players and of course the heroes in Wildes and Papa Smurf.

Last but not least, plaudits to the unsung heroes in Bob Young and the Administrators; who not only kept the club going and sanctioned the signings like Chris Neal and JMW during our time of need; but they also found the right buyers for the club aswell.

Enjoy the moment, and for those fortunate enough to be going to Wycombe next Saturday for the last game of the season; lets make it another day to remember!

Up the vale!!
