IMPORTANT: New server ordered

Hello,

 

The new, improved OVF server is ordered. This has much more memory plus automated monitoring (i.e. the site should be rebooted automatically 15 mins after any crashes) plus an automated back-up facility.

 

I have had to wait until I had all the sufficient funds to pay for this (I had to pay in full for the first month plus continuing to pay for the existing server - the cost of a larger server plus the add-ons is a third more than the existing costs). The order is now in process and there should be no disruption as once everything is copied over I will simply switch the new site on and the old one off.

 

I really hope this will make OVF a lot faster and less prone to crashes. It really has to as the cost makes it at the upper limit of what I am personally prepared to potentially pay (that is - if all advertising didn't work and no-one donated then it's left to me to pay the bill in full - or indeed any shortfalls from month to month).

 

I am very grateful to those who have donated - there have been some significant sums which have helped massively. However, if anyone else wants to make a donation I would not say "no" as it would be good to have a pool of money as back-up if I suddenly find myself having to make up any shortfall - my monthly bills are certainly going to be a lot higher so there is a possibility of a significant shortfall to make up each month. The donation button is on the RH side if anyone wants to help.
