It just shows what a poor state we are in when our physio has to get his equipment from money gained via the volunteers group.

 

We are only talking £1.3K. If club finances are ok and we due to make a small profit, why not just buy him some new gear?

Certainly. I spoke with a shareholder before the Stockport game who has put over £30,000 into the club (some not in shares!), who knew of an affiliation that was held by the Sproson fund with a local business. Mudie basically went to this business, requested it's services and refused to pay the bill, stating that they could "Put it on the Sproson fund account". I hear that luckily the business knew that this was wrong and refused to do this. The chap that I spoke to told me how he called a meeting with Mudie who insisted on Bratt being present. Mudie gave no answers to defend his actions (because he had none), instead deciding to attack the person stating that he did not like the way that he was being spoken to (classic defensive response). Bratt apparently said nothing the whole time until an assistant of his came and opened the door, signifying that the meeting was over.

That £1.3K represents just half of the cost of the equipment. The rest was paid by the club.

If it is essential equipment I agree. If it is additional equipment which will help the physio then I'm quite happy for the money from the Volunteers to be used in this way. You could make the same argument for anything the Volunteers spend their funds on - the club should pay for that - so it's a bit daft to say it really.

I think we should pay tribute to these people who put their time and effort in, regardless of the general running of the club and the board issues. As the title of the thread does actually. The slight swipe about accounts is well taken, but these are separate issues surely. Maybe we should but the volunteers in charge of the real accounts actually.
