Not many teams bounce straight back up, it’s not as easy as some are making out. But your right it should be possible depending on how competitive this budget will be. The signings will give us some indication 👍🏻

Yeah I’ve seen. Isn’t it like 1. Something % that bounce straight back. We’ve just got to be competing around that top 7 I think. Don’t want us just treading water in the bottom half

True, but then at some point the owner has to realise when people aren’t performing and step in.

Matt Hancock needs to step up then.

True, and if not that would be when Carol steps in and makes changes. This ‘new’ approach (Carol stepping back) can only be a positive IMO

With a competitive budget which they’ve said we’ll have then a top half finish shouldn’t really be a struggle. I agree with the promotion part, suppose the recruitment or lack of will tell us more 👍🏻

I’m still concerned with the manager. I feel he’s a manager that may have a good pull in the transfer window, but he just does not convince me tactically. We should be aiming to bounce back immediately especially with the rumoured budged, sadly I think they will settle for consolidating

  4. I did find it a bit laughable these comments from Moore that everything has to be right off the pitch, right structure ect for promotion. I thought we had this? Years have been spent putting this in place yet now it’s non existent.

Not sure we had all the right structures in place when we were promoted under Adams? To me, it felt like deflection and an excuse ready for when we have a poor season.

The season just finished we won 3, drew 1, lost 1 v L2 sides. I'm counting the penalty shoot out game v Crewe as drawn. We had a bias in home games, but also a bias in playing teams at the top end of L2 in Wrexham, Mansfield and Crewe. So that's 10 points from 15 possible if these were L2 games. That would be enough to garnish 90 points plus over the season and put us well in contention for the L2 championship or automatic promotion.

In these games, we gave the young players a chance, but also had access to our loan players. So we can speculate.

But I'm overall pretty dismayed by this we will will struggle in L2 stuff with the players we have. It is just not supported by the evidence from the season just completed and we have time to be better equipped by August.

We also had Arblaster and Devine.

I think he's the least ready and needs to develop. But I'm a lot more happy about the rest. I want to see Dipepa, Walters and Plant starting. We need Dipepa in particular to start and score goals. I fear he will be gone in the Summer or in January in which case deploying the fee correctly is important. The other young players need to step up to L2. The point is we have committed to an academy system and I agree there are risks of playing youth players who may not be good enough. But if that is the club's business and football model, then braveness is needed. The current Liverpool squad was decimated for part of the season, but the young players came in and kept them near the top of the league. It's stuttered recently relying on a striker who isn't good enough - Nunez. Jayden Danns will come in next season with Nunez likely moved to the left. He's a strong dribbler.

Personally I don’t think we committed to this youth academy approach, it was just the result of consistent horrible transfer windows. Realistically, other than Plant, the youth players shouldn’t have been close to the first team this season. Shorrock I like, he has a lot of potential, but needs a full season playing men’s football in non league, imo the same for lomax and walters. It’s a joke that these were involved in league 1 football and just result of David Flitcroft. Dipepa I would put in the same category but seems to have come on quite a lot recently, if we keep him, him and plant would be the only ones I’d want involved in the match day squads this season. Get the others a full season under their belt and come back next season with us

Surely we should have kept Willow on a pay as you play deal if that would have been possible.....that's my thought anyway, top player when fit...and better than most at our level when not fully fit !! Think it's a mistake letting him go to be honest.

He’s never fit. Dosent score and when plays is recovering from an injury. Sorry his record isn’t remotely good enough. Pay as you play is barely a think anymore. Move on, he’s barely scored a goal in league 1, he’s better than the numpties we have up front but that Dosent mean he should have been kept.

Messi, the greatest player of all time, started playing for Barcelona aged 17. Pele aged 17 played for Brazil in the 1958 World Cup final winning in Sweden.

Players are either ready or not. Walters, Dipepa and Plant are ready in my view. I'm hoping we keep Dipepi and he sticks in 20-30 goals next season.

Bit of a difference between Shorrock at 17 and Messi at 17 mate

We need to retain and bring through the young players as regulars in the first team, move some players on in the retained list to provide scope to rebalance, improve up front and at the back and coach an effective playing system, make sure we have a squad that is very fit and available.

I think we had a jumbled imbalanced squad last season. But many players will be strong in L2 and there is no reason with good management that we can't finish in the top three.

The young players aren’t ready yet. Shorrock looks talented but he’s just turned 17.

    It's very simple for me.

Cole Stockton would be a great shout. With Burton staying up, he's clearly surplus to requirements there. And surely we could offer a better package than Barrow.

    There is our first striker.

Then we need to cherry pick someone from another smaller club, such as Will Evans or Klaidi Lolos. Carol to fund this to correct her mistakes.

    There is our 2nd striker.

Then you've got Dipepa 3rd choice, and Loft 4th choice.

I think Uche will reject us personally, but let's see.

Should have been in for him last season.

Nonsense. Chislett, Garrity and Ojo are League One quality. Clark is a good League Two player when fit. Same with Smith. Dipepa will be much better from having experienced some football this season. Ripley would be one of the best goalies in League Two...

I think some people are forgetting just how poor many League Two sides are. We won't be facing anything like the same quality as the top half of League One. Look how poor we made Mansfield look in the Cup last season and the only real difference in that side were the two loanees.

Chislett and garrity won’t be with us.

    Clarke is never fit.
    Ojo isn’t interested.
We outplayed Mansfield with our quality loanees. We just squeezed past relegated Sutton at home and beat Crewe but we completely outplayed. This squad is not remotely good enough.

If we have 4 strikers on the books, explain to me the types of strikers you would have. I bet a big number 9 would be amongst them. If so, give me a list of league 2 number 9s who would do a better job than uche.

To be honest I don’t no league 2 strikers. I do no Smith has been released from Salford and scores a hell of a lot more than Uche. If we can’t manage to sign a striker better than Uche then we might as well shut the doors. If Uche stays he will be on good money, he will be our main man. We can’t afford him when his return this season was 1 goal and assist in 19 games. I’m more than certain we could find a target man who can produce better numbers than that.

And the vast majority of them will be out of our reach for numerous reasons. I'm no fan of Uche. I wouldn't care less if both him and Loft were on the move as long as they are replaced. But out of the two, I think he has a bit more of the nuisance factor than Loft. If we were a League Two club and we signed Ikpeazu I think most would be saying what a great signing it is.

Not on the back of seeing him last season they wouldn’t. I was happy when he signed, but some of the misses were beyond bad. We shouldn’t be signing a striker up with 1 assist and 1 goal. He will be on very decent money as well. Get rid whilst we can and start a fresh.
