Bill navigated the club through a time where finances were dire

They look at our present virtue signaling owner as if she is some kind of messiah... Anything but.

There comes a time when character and integrity come a distinct first to finance power. Bill didn't deserve the send off he had.

If Bill and a consortium could get some finance together and consider coming back he would get my support 100%

He deserved a worse send off than he received!

Regarding Gregory. He’s soon to be 36 years old. It would be a waste of a wage at his age. And I don’t really rate the bloke.
We need hungry strikers who are not coming here for one last pay day.

Would he? It’s never going to happen but he has been a championship player for a number of years. I’d imagine he would be more than good enough at this level. His record is excellent and much of it at a higher level. Would be a no brainer if possible IMO

I'm hoping Saqid Mahmood puts his injury issues behind him (he's back in the Lancashire team). I think he's one that is genuine International class but he has to stay fit or he'll never prove it. I think Robinson has burnt his bridges and I doubt he'll get in the squad again.

Personally, I think there's room for a less express bowler (so I'd give Cook a go) and alongside him, I'd pick Mahmood and Wood as my quicker pair.

What was it Robinson did? I know they weren’t overly impressed with him in India but not sure if I’ve missed something.
Mahmood has quality, quite a skiddy bowler with good pace, I think he’s dangerous up front, just another one who seems injured half the time. Hopefully he can stay fit and have good year

I think just on Robinson he is at a bit of a crossroads in his career. Looked very unfit in India and was barely getting it above 75mph so he needs to go away and think on things. The one who really I really liked last summer in the couple of tests he played was Tongue, maintained a good pace throughout.

Completely agree on both. I just think they will take Robinson with his height but he’s looked a long way off it recently. They have made some really good left field selections, Tongue and Bashir based on not much cricket. Tongue looks promising to me and should go to the Ashes

You don't understand why we would want Crawley to beat Crewe if you are not a regular away traveller.

I hate Crewe away so I couldn’t care less who goes up out of the two. Crawley is a dump but we do well there, can’t stand the games against Crewe.

He's had a great career. 700 test wickets and a 20 year career playing for England can't complain with that. He gets his send off and hopefully takes 3 or 4 more wickets in his last match. It will give England the chance to put out a younger bowling attack. I know they will pick woakes and wood for now, but there's plenty of others waiting to step in. Tongue, fisher, cook,Potts are 4 bowlers that for me are likely to get picked, plus there is Robinson and archer if they can stay fit.

Not sure on the likes of Fisher, cook and Potts in the immediate future given the Ashes coming up. They will likely pick the tallest quicks available along with Wood, Archer and Robinson.

“Mal Benning is a League 2 player” is the kind of Flitcroftism that got us Connor Grant.

I’d rather team players than individuals who don’t show up.

Pleased for Mal, good for him.

Benning wasn’t very good and some suddenly think he’s class just because Flitcroft signed an awful replacement.

He’s playing in league one consistently. It’s not that difficult to grasp is it.  “Hammering” a team and not beating them means nothing. It’s just bitterness to be looking at another club and their players and slating them as not good enough. Meanwhile we endured horrendous runs, results, form and relegation. People in glass houses. They’ve got the chance to have another go next season and enjoy big localish games against the likes Stockport, Wrexham, birmingham whilst we’re looking forward to Accrington, Bromley and Carlisle turning up in their tens.

It’s not bitter what so ever. They were very poor against us, and won. I’m not sure how I’m being bitter by suggesting they were a poor side (gd suggests this also) and that Mal isn’t at that level. I have commented on Mal getting a deal not sure where this idea of slating has come from? Just because he’s playing regularly Dosent mean he is at that level.
When we stayed up but were dreadful in league 2, we’re Mills, Fitzpatrick ect at that level? I like Mal and won’t slag him off, I just think he’s a league 2 player who wasn’t overly brilliant for us in league 2 and shrews were the weakest side we played. Not doubting they were stronger than us.

He isn’t though is hes. Hes a league one player that’s done well for Shrewsbury. Nothing criminal about them beating us last season either, we just weren’t good enough.

There was. They were dire both matches, were absolutely hammered them away from home just couldn’t score. For me Benning isn’t league 1 level, he’s a league 2 player. I think it says more about Shrewsbury more than anything.

Tozer is a career long L2 / National League defender aged 34. Wrexham have let him go at the end of his contract because they need an L1 defender after promotion. Why is he a solution for us? He only played 24 games for Wrexham in L2 last season and 30 games in total. Tozer was a regular sub in the last months of the season.

Amazing that you feel tozer couldn’t do a job but Uche could.

5,500 STs and still counting, at those ST prices which are much higher than Vale's, is how Chesterfield can make offers which are sufficient to attract players of the calibre of Paddy Madden, a super-consistent goal-scorer in the lower leagues.

Chesterfield averaged nearly 7,500 supporters per home game in the National League last season and will certainly increase that this coming season in L2, which is a great showing for a town of about 75,000 people.

We Vale supporters can't just rely on Carol's continuing subsidies, we have to play our part too, buy our STs early, drag lapsed and new supporters along to the games, get in the club shop and spend our hard-earned, and so on.

And yes, I do know these are hard times and some genuine Vale supporters currently can't do that through no choice of their own, but let's all do what we can.

We have done this previously and been rewarded with players like Loft, Uche, Lowe, Massey ect.
There is a big buzz around Chesterfield and they have just been promoted and have money behind them anyway.

I hate how the onus is on fans. I will not be buying a season ticket early this season. I did it the last two season and was rewarded with garbage football and garbage non league signings. Not to mention backing the club early resulted in us not bothering to sign forwards until deadline day and starting one season with a 17 year old centre mid up front.

I will wait to see who we sign before making a decision this season. I blindly brought a season ticket previously and was rewarded with rubbish and I’m not falling for it again.  The club is back in league 2 because of the owners making a complete mess of it and taking their eye off the football and focussing on off field activities. In my opinion it’s up to them to put this right and earn support back.

The fans have always backed this club attendances remained decent last season even with the <ovf censored> show on display. So don’t even go there insinuating that we haven’t backed the club

@Brian Johnsonim not saying Uche will score 20 goals a season. But he is different and if fit, well trained and wearing the shirt with pride he will give us an option most defenders will not relish playing against. #teamuche

For what benefit? 1 goal and 1 assist in 19 games. Defenders might not enjoy playing against him but he can’t score and Dosent set up goals. I don’t know why we can’t get rid of these <ovf censored> players and sign a striker that you know, scores goals

Career for Uche is 48 goals in 282 games. He has dried up abroad and at Port Vale where of course he arrived unfit and kept interchanging with Loft off the bench. But in 2022 he scored 3 in 13 for Cardiff, a team at Championship level.

Pope has retired and can't come back. If we find another post war record goal scorer then great. I know many fans favour reincarnating Wilf Kirkham.

Look at his recent record. Look at what he did last season. Look at the last game of the season. That miss, as posted on here already, you miss that regardless of the level. Get rid, I’m sure we can find a better striker with the wages he will want.

This is a ridiculous thread. Every year we have someone who starts a thread about the price of season tickets (which were announced a month ago) and asking where folk are going to find the money from, especially if they don’t buy until the price is at its maximum in August.

Who knew STs would be on sale in the summer?  What a bloody shock that is.  If you want a season ticket plan for it. An adult ticket in the Lorne Street costs £350. Put a quid a day in a piggy bank and job done. If you decide not to have one you have got enough to have a nice weekend break somewhere. It’s not rocket science unless you’ve only got half a brain.

    Not exactly.

The way the club has performed recently has convinced me that I will not buy a season ticket until I see good reason to, potentially at which point would be far more expensive than blindly buying one at the early bird offer. I’ve done this the last few seasons (season ticket purchased before actually seeing what kind of squad we have) and I will not be doing it again.

Agree with the comments about closing the thread, I think it's quite clear it's being used by people who are here trolling and just on a wind up. Their arguments are embarrassing otherwise. Either that, or maybe Artell was right all along.

Is that your response to those who do think Moore should be judged more harshly on the 19 games so far? Just trolling? I can guarantee you I’m not trolling and am extremely disappointed with a manager who manages 2 wins and 4 draws in 17 matches.

You do remember Arblaster don't you? The "only advantage"??? The lads now captain in the Prem playing teams with 100m+ of talent in midfield off the park. Then when he was recalled Devine dropped further back and was head and shoulders above anything else we had on offer. When they'd both gone, Crosby had 2 games, got zero points. So that's how that's worked out, not rocket science.

Garrity was out injured after Carlisle away. We only played 3 games after that with Crosby in charge. Before that he wasn't being selected by Crosby at the start of the season, that wasn't down to injury. It was then clear under Moore he was back probably too soon. It took him a few weeks to get back to his best.

And despite the fact he's adored by us all, let's not be silly enough to compare Garrity with Arblaster, you'd just be embarrassing yourself if you went down that road.

Wanting Moore out despite only having that squad at his disposal is one of the worst takes I've seen.  He'll be judged by me once he has his own squad recruited. Pep wouldn't have got much more out of this squad, they were that bad.

I don’t see how a manager who picked up 10 points from a possible 51 with a win ratio of 11% with some awful football and tactics can be seen as a bad take.

Of course Pep would have got more of of this squad. A decent manager would have at least been able to get us organised and stop conceding. players are woeful im not disagreeing there, but this free pass some are giving Moore for 2/3 months of the absalute worst possible results is ludicrous.

Did you not know that you were going to get a ST?  If you did then you maybe should've guessed that they would go on sale around this time this year as they do every year.

I think quite a lot would be waiting to see what players come in. I’ve stated on here previously that I will not be purchasing one whilst the likes of Grant, loft, jones and Lowe are here. I need to see some real statement and impressive signings, at which point season tickets prices will be more expensive. Personally I think it should just be one blanket price, always thought this
