    If you only allowed happy people to attend games, Vale Park would be empty!!

    The only people who have been made continually happy by Vale over the past decade have been Norman Smurfwaite and his bank manager.

    I just think if you are really unhappy then vote with your feet. Keep your cash back and then spend it when you are feeling better. Not saying to starve them out but keeping money back until you are happier with the decisions the club are making is a way towards change.

    I wanted the Y axis datapoints to read A bit / quite / somewhat / very / Michael Brown but it wasn't having it

    As pessimistic as I am I'm not sure we've reached Michael Brown levels just yet. Apart from that second half at Barnsley where we clearly hadn't done anything during preseason and played the wrong team.

    I'd go...                  Ripley

                   Debrah    Smith   Lowe

        Lomax       Sang          Ojo         Grant

                         Chislet     Devine

                                  Garrity

    1-1 Devine to bag

    Be nice to see Jones & Willo amongst the match day squad or even an update!

    Ojo fit? If not Walters for me

    My concern is about what happens when we lose Ollie and Alex, whether that's in January or the end of the season.  Players like those don't come along very often and Vale couldn't hope to sign anyone of such undoubted class. Given our previous efforts to sign a striker I don't think they'll be replaced with anyone half as good.

    At least Ethan Chislett is our player, for however long until Vale decide to cash in - he's surely alerting a lot of clubs.

    If we attracted them this season why can't we attract better next?

    For Chis, he blows too hot and cold for now. I think BG will be more in demand in January but if Chis can keep this form up he could go in the summer

    I see in his post match last night evans said he had a coffee and a long chat with Carol before the game?

    I've listened to his post match chats in all the games against us and he's spoken so well about us. I've almost come to respect him.

    For me @CambridgeDon you can't look at our form over the full 12 month period & pin that on Crosby's record. He wasn't in charge & it wasn't his squad of players.

    Again just offering an alternative view, but look at his record for the games he can be fully accountable for.

    This season including all League & Cup games:

    Total games played = 31.

    This is a ridiculous amount of games for us to have played by the second week of December. Our relative success in the cups has definitely had an impact on our squad, not only in terms of injuries but also recovery time & the amount of time they've been able to actually work on things on the grass. Cup runs are great, but they do have a knock on effect especially at our level. You've got to have a big squad to cope & we simply don't have that as a league 1 side. I'd say it's a pretty fair assumption to conclude that had we gone out at the 1st chance in all cups, we'd more than likely have a few more league points in the bag.

    Wins = 11

    Draws = 9 (Won 2 & lost 1 on pens)

    Loses = 11

    We've also had two very winnable home games cancelled due to internationals. Fleetwood who were dead on their feet at the time, & Orient.

    Hear me out now. If you convert that form over Crosby's time in full charge, it leaves you with 62 points across a full 46 game season. Now some of you will correctly point out that 3 of those games have been against L2 opposition & you'd be right. Free scoring Crewe who are in the top 4 of L2, Mansfield away from home who were unbeaten in 20 games across a 4 month period, & then bottom of the league Sutton, who we beat. It also includes Newcastle under 21s as well (which I've counted as a draw on the stats)

    We've only been beaten by more than a 1 x goal margin on 4 x occasions in 31 games. Barnsley opening day. Bristol Rovers away when we played an hour + with 10 men. Unbeaten Pompey away, where we feasibly could've & should have been out of site at half time. Bolton away in the trophy game last week.

    I stick to my guns that this season is far from as bad as ppl would have you believe. If you'd have told me we'd be looking at mid table in the league & a QF in one of the 2 x major cup comps, I'd have snapped your hand off & so would most sensible Vale fans.

    Could & should we be higher up the league? Yes absolutely, I think we're probably about 6 points shy of where we could & should be. Are we lacking up top? Yes we are, Crosby will know this, he isn't thick. He will be doing everything within his power to rectify that. Please give the bloke a break. I think he's the right guy at this current time & deserves more credit & time with the squad he has put together.

    Totally correct to view it in this way. If we get back to winning ways this recent run will be a blip. Carry on as we are currently and the wins at the start of the season will be the blip and we will be relegated. We've got to get back to winning games - however that happens

    My views :

    We have now lost the buzz, feel good factor and momentum that we had during the promotion season and Wembley trip.

    We had a great opportunity to build something and we all thought that we had a promising future. That may still be the case, but it doesn’t feel like it.

    We had a manager in Clarke who I believe 90% of the fan base felt attached to. He got Port Vale, he was one of us. In my opinion, Clarke was in position for the next 5/6 years and the only way he was leaving would be to a bigger club.

    Then the unthinkable happened which derailed us - it’s been spoke about enough so I don’t want to go into it too much. However, Carol felt it was right to relieve Clarke of his duties.

    It was then pivotal to get us back on that feel good train this summer. We had stayed up in League One, which was our aim.

    Instead of getting a proven manager, or a typical Port Vale manager (Adams and Clarke) we took a massive gamble in Crosby.

    Crosby’s tenure started well, but it has now petered out to what we all knew could happen. The decent start and the cup run has papered over numerous cracks.

    We now have a fan base who have become bored. The same happened under Page and also Bruno, who played a similar type of football without getting wins. Fans have become apathetic, the interest in Port Vale is dwindling. At the minute we are nose diving I’m afraid.

    I’ve got nothing against Crosby. I doubt it will turn nasty as he has a lot of respect. It just hasn’t worked out and was probably never going to.

    100% agree. I do think the feel good factor can return and I truly believe we have fantastic owners who are trying to do the best by the club. We need a change of direction, starting with a new manager that everyone can get behind.

  8. I really fear for our league one safety if we don't change the manager before the Jan window and early enough for them to analyse the squad and line up signings for the right price. That will involve selling some players and that also takes time.

    I'm reading the John rudge book currently and what I would do have a manager like that right now.

  9. Would be a great game to win - money in the bank for January! Hope we can keep it up and avoid any injuries too!

    Garrity has to be one the best signings in the last 10 years. He works so hard, almost never injured and consistently knows where the net is. If I were a lower championship club he's the kind of player I'd be looking to sign up and we'd probably snap someone's hand off for 250k

    But isn't the element of surprise and the unexpected what keeps us going to matches? If we all knew what was going to happen we could lump on at the bookies.

    Of course but I don't begrudge people not going because they are unhappy with the standard of entertainment that's all. I hate the notion that you are not a proper fan unless you've sat in the open end at Gillingham.

  11. Do people want a thread? I'm happy to do one no matter what the results are but I don't want to flood the message board. Equally, I don't want to be seen as shying away from it because we won today.

    If we don't do one now, I won't do one next week if we lose also...
