An unbelievably shocking read for me. Totally nailed the coffin shut for me that he has to go - doesn't have a clue what he's doing. Thinks football matches can be won with statistics.
- says Clarke was sacked based on performances. Not on anything else
- thought it was a good idea that despite the performances that the as. Manager and coaches should take over and things will be different?!?
- seems to think Crosby is doing a good job and is invested in the long term (I don't think he would sack AC if we lost tomorrow)
- thinks AC was the one to bring Plant into the first team - Clarke gave him his debut two games before AC.
He has to go, enough is enough.

My concern is also that we beat Exeter and that gives AC more time to turn it around. You can only hope that if we do beat Exeter its the start of us actually turning it around and we can drag ourselves away from a relegation battle.

The Charlton one actually.
Makes sense cause I think people were calling him something else after that game

If you look back at the threads on all the early games folk were calling the manager Pep Crosby!
Early games as in the first game of the season?

I'd play plant in his correct position above all the others. Let's develop our own

I don't think Devine was a planned signing - we just got told he was available and put our hat in the ring. I don't think we should have signed him though, we should have signed a left-back and let Plant play in his natural position behind the striker. That is of course if it was either/or

Matt Taylor's Exeter played some very attractive football with plenty of goals,he played youth players and sold them on for big money he fits the model of the club perfectly imo BUT we will miss out mainly because of us dawdling on the managers future, the problem they have is that if they sack Crosby they will be admitting dropping a clanger in sacking DC along with not interviewing for the manager job at the end of the season instead giving it to crosby despite only winning 1 game after DC was sacked
For what its worth if we do muster the balls to sack Crosby then for out of work managers Taylor would be my choice and if we were to pay compo for one(the last one we did that for didn't do to bad) then for a manager who works well on smaller budgets then my choice would be Pete Wild at Barrow(maybe wozzer can put in a word)
Both great options. I also like the notts county manager but not sure he would swap a playoff push in the league below for a relegation scrap. Always on the front foot playing exciting football

Wow..that's a fantastic offer. I would have thought thats a very inflated price for the vale.
-
3 million better off than the over inflated asking price plus the money she's put in since them? I'm not claiming to be in the know but I seem to recall 10 mil being floated around - so the offer was 13?? Genuine question

Incredibly disrespectful to a multi millionaire successful business woman.
I don't think it is but each to their own.
She's not without fault, and she shouldn't be above criticism. Everyone has made mistakes and I believe listening to Flickcroft is one of them.

I agree Carol has her faults, who doesn’t, but in August/September folk on here were praising the appointment of Crosby. And with regard to appointing someone who had never managed before, the two teams who were automatically promoted from League One were both managed by guys in their first management job.
Not blaming Carol here for a second but it was painfully obvious after his 4 game audition that he wasn't up to the job. More than enough people pointed that out at the time.
Carols problem has been trusting people too much. Flickcroft has hoodwinked her into a nice little earner where he can play billy big bits. That being said, I wouldn't sack him now but give him an ultimatum - bring in a manager and coaching staff (not your bothers mates from the builders yard) and keep this club in league one or you are off in the summer.

I'd be amazed if there wasn't work going on behind the scenes on a) who will be interim manager when Andy goes b) a list of suitable and realistic candidates to replace him long term.
You mean like there was when we sacked DC?

If that was aimed at me - I don't give a phuq what people think, or how seriously they take me! Unlike others, my "weird one-man mission to defend the club" consists of challenging people who constantly lie, misconstrue, misunderstand or deliberately misquote statistics, events and their consequences! I don't defend the club about everything - but, neither do I stoop to the same level of insanity as some of our posters? What is a bit mental is people like you who side with the numpties and try to dismiss people quoting actual facts, rather than made-ep ones! As you used to be told on a regular basis - bore off!
Tony, I am happy that you have a different opinion to me. Personal attacks, not so much. Attack the post not the poster I believe is the saying.
I've not said anything that's not fact, or my personal opinion on a fact. I'd appreciate it if you didn't misconstrue what I wrote as 'made up'.
As per your comments on my opinion as to how the sacking was handled, my feelings remain. I'm not debating if it was the wrong decision, I don't think it was but perhaps it was the only decision. I didn't like the way the club handled things post sacking and up the appointment of the new manager. I think mistakes were made (we all make them) and they will come back to haunt us very soon. Hopefully, we can turn the corner and stay up - I think avoiding a relegation battle would be a successful season.

Applying for the vacant Portsmouth job at the time, doesn't constitute as been thrown under a bus.
No throwing him under the bus is sacking him and nobody else. They were all responsible for the run we went on last season and only one person took the blame.
I personally have no issue with someone applying for a better job (more money, closer to home). I also don't mind if a manager loses his job due to bad results - it's all part of the business.

DC was sacked because of off field things, that was untenable. We can't keep saying he was treated appallingly etc etc. Just let it go and wish him well.
If he was sacked for off field stuff (he wasn't according to the statement) that doesn't excuse the statement put out when he was sacked and the comments from AC. That's why I think he was treated badly - not the fact he was sacked.

Thank <ovf censored> for a voice of reason! No real surprise to see the likes of Emile, The Kalamazoo Kid and Brian Johnson supporting all the negative posts on here!
I sincerely, sincerely hope I am proved wrong here. I said the same thing after Clarke was sacked and I said the same thing in May when Crosby was appointed the manager. I want the Vale to succeed, and I think the owners of this club deserve the success after everything they have done for it. I sing my daughter the wonder of you every night before bed.
This last 12 months has been the worst for me as a Vale fan that I can remember. There have been darker time, with three appalling ownerships that almost cost the club it's existence, but I still felt proud to be a Port Vale fan. There was a feeling that it was backs against the wall and we wanted to survive, even if that resulted in the era's of Michael Brown, Aspin etc. I didn't even think we were as bad as others made out under Bruno - I still believed there was enough in that side to stay up until we sold our best players in that January and the writing was on the wall. For me, the way the club handled Clarke's dismissal was and still is, unforgivable. Thrown under the bus without as much of a thankyou. Suggesting the club went through the loss of his daughter together, unfathomable. Crosby coming in and pretending Clarke didn't exist for me showed an absolute lack of respect. We then bodged our way through the end of the season, bodged our way through hiring a new manager and then limped through a preseason schedule of playing the local primary school in a friendly match in Spain. The writing was on the wall - we don't have anyone who actually knows how to manage the football team and until we resolve this issue we are heading for relegation. Hire a new experience manager, hire some good coaches and give them an input on the players we need to buy / sell in January - this will be enough to keep us up.
Like I said before, I would be really happy to be proved wrong here, but from the outside, it seems pretty obvious what is going wrong and how it was going to go wrong the moment we decided not to even bother looking for a replacement for the manager.

Personally don't find him a nice guy - I find his interviews arrogant, deceitful and dismissive of the fans. But each to their own - for the record I really wasn't a fan of DCs early interviews and thought he was going to be a Jim Gannon short term appointment and I didn't think Micky Adams was a nice person.

Another poll from someone who wants people to agree with them that their viewpoint is the right one.
We sack Crosby, then we don't win the game after, who are you going after then, Boomer?
Did you even read my post?! I didn't vote for him to be sacked in this poll and the previous one.
I put the vote up after the Cheltenham game when people were calling for change. I wasn't, but I thought a poll was a good way to show different opinions.
I put this one up because I was asked to after the Mansfield game to see if people had changed their mind. The results so far show that more people have confidence in the regime now than they had against Cheltenham.

For me, it probably isn't the right time for a manager change, but I have no confidence in Andy Crosby or the coaching staff.
The problems we had in the second half of the season are still present, despite a change in players which has resulted in a clearly better squad than last season. I didn't think a change of manager was needed last season, but if we were going to do so, the assistant and the coaching staff should have gone too.
We are set up too defensively and aren't being coached well enough to be ruthless. The subs are coming too late in general and are not the ones to change the change. We have one plan and aren't able to adapt our game to win football matches.
For DF, I think he should stay until the end of the season. I think we will need to change managers before the end of the year in order to get a good chance of staying up. If DF can appoint a decent one, and back them with the right additions to the squad in January that keeps us up, I think he has done OK enough to keep his job. If we are relegated, he should walk.

2nd round of no-confidence for AC.
For the record, I said I would be making this thread prior to today's result to see if there has been any change in the feelings of supporters who voted last time.
Results of the last vote of no confidence after the last league game (2-1 defeat to Cheltenham);Total Number of Votes = 78
Yes = 28 (36%)
No - Sack Crosby = 4 (5%)
No - Sack Crosby and coaching staff = 12 (15%)
No - Sack Crosby, coaching staff and Director Of Football = 34 (44%)
The record
Andy Crosby's record as manager as of the Lincoln game (league only)
20 games in charge
6 wins19 goals scored
31 conceded

Darell Clarke's last 20 games;

18 goals scored

lost 4
points 6
goals scored 9
goals conceded 15
Crosby's last 9 games -Won 0
Draw 3

It should also be factored in that we have made it to the QF of the league cup, however, I think we have had fairly easy opposition on the way there. We have also managed to qualify in the paint pot cup, but I don't think anyone would judge the manager based on this tournament. We also have the opportunity to get through to the 2nd round of the FA Cup on Tuesday but with a weakened squad away from home it might be a tall ask.

Flitcroft Interview in Baggers' 'The Valiant'
in Port Vale present
Posted
James Plant was excellent at Ipswich, an outstanding performance. That was designed. He (Andy Crosby) had looked at his physical and technical metrics and said, ‘you know what, he deserves to play.’
That seems to suggest that Andy Crosby looked at Plants stats and made the decision to play him
Technically he doesn't say that he gave him his full debut, but I would say it's implied personally.
