It doesn't send out any kind of message, when so many other teams do it, as well!

Can you or anyone else posting on here name me one match where you have seen the opposition player at kick off pass it pack to his keeper.

How can you possibly say many other teams do it!

    Maybe I was already 😴

  2. Recently our keeper has aimed goal kicks directly at Uche which even if we don't win the first ball sees the next phase of the game in the opposition half rather than our keeper retrieving the ball from our net due to yet another catastrophic loss of possession by our back line.

    Totally disagree.

It's not about the stats and the only manager to come out to say anything about Uche was the Charlton manager that's actually come out & said anything about him unless you can show me any other articles different.

Uche was a player that was about to get thrown out of the club until AC stumbled on a formation at half time against Barnsley to save his own bacon.

Uche's then gone on to have, what 2 & half decent games which for some reason made him a messiah amongst Vale fans, where before Barnsley he was useless.

When AC gets players back from injury & and one or two more additions in, then he is going to revert back to the possession football that we had been playing because that's the way that AC wants us to play & he's said many many times this season that is our ID & philosophy.

When he reverts back to that, then Uche will be useless again but with what I have seen with Uche already, it's not going to take a switch of formation to render him not very good again.

All that is very true and it's also very worrying.

Since AC has 'stumbled' onto a system, that Uche is an integral part of, I have seen our supporters, after the match, coming out of the ground with smiles on their faces even though we may not have won (Charlton).

If AC loses Uche and reverts back to the the 'Vale Way' of playing then we will be back to glum, unhappy fans who may well not renew STs (particularly if reverting back to the boring, catastrophic, system sees us relegated).

The new 'Vale Way' of playing may be what the coaches want, but i am pretty damn sure its not what the majority of supporters want. It's the proverbial watching paint dry scenario.

I, for one, will never forgive the lead up to the Middelsborough second goal that killed the match as a contest.

BTW what message does it send to the opposition and our supporters when at our kick off the ball is immediately passed back to the keeper without any other player touching it. Total negativity.

  4. When he is 100% fit.

The Uche now is twice the player he was when he arrived. Plus he isn't at peak fitness even now. There is still more to come and clearly he terrifies defenders now. Add that third division (not Championship) goal sharpness and he will be one of the best in this league. IMHO

How? He receives the ball very well in areas where most players cant. Skipping alot of passing and messing about at the back. Once he has the ball he can drive and shoot or pass out to wingers. We have all seen him at the vale receiving the ball from the keep with 2 men on him and then turn them both and have crack on gole or pass it out to a winger instantly starting an attack. Any way you put it just him being up there creates chances. Within 10 seconds of ripley passing it to him and receiving it we are normally on the attack. I want 200k for him or we might regret selling him at all.

Yep, we spend months getting him fit to the point that he frightened Charlton that much they immediately want to buy him and pair him with Alfie May.

Loans. That is the issue. We’re not progressing. We can’t do this every window. Need some permanent signings.

Since when have we been a club that only signs loans? There's a time and place for permanent signings and that's the summer when there is best value for money from a big list of out of contract players.

Our permanent signings last summer upped the overall quality of the team.

If the club is getting to sign loans from Premier league clubs to go with our own permanent players improving season on season what's there to worry about?

The January curse strikes again at vale. Going backwards, needed our Director of Flicks to come up trumps over the next two weeks

Think the two loans we have already  brought in clearly state the quality our DOF looks to bring to Vale.

Perhaps we should stick with signing donkeys as they won't get Recalled!

A lot cheaper than buying a player and committing to their wages for 2 years or so, yes.

Give me real class and quality like Devine and Arblaster for half a season rather than a league 1 donkey you're tied to for 2 years anytime!

    Onwards and upwards Vale!!

  9. Just a thought ...

In the Rudge years we bought players cheaply. Sold them on when playing well then used a proportion of the sale to buy the replacement to develop and then sell on etc etc

Is Garrity and Weir the rebirth of that ideology perhaps? Considering one is injured and the other only a loan not a permanent signing I am jumping a lot of bridges, heart ruling head of course. Just dreaming that any possible sale of Garrity could be a positive and not a disaster for us.

Just going back to our fine youngsters.

Are we waiting until they turn 18 before signing them on a professional contract?

We need to more than match last season BJ points wise.

We must aim for mid table now but, as you are saying, an important aspect of success / failure for the season will be getting those young lads signed up on professional contracts.

Inconsistency is fine. Poor use of subs and putting out the same formation every week, regardless of what injuries you have, simply isn't.

Problem is none of us know the full situation regarding players fitness to play.

It isn't a simple black and white situation of being fit or not fit to play

These days Vale play their fitness cards close to their chest and what may seem as 'clear' to us fans can often be far from the true situation.

This is dreadful! Crosby out, you utter goonie. We won't score if we're still playing this time tomorrow.

    Its now 'tomorrow '

Just got back from the pub celebrating a 3 - 0 win.

Sorry, interrupted. What was you saying?

Actually, for once Crosby picked a line-up I didn't agree with too !!

Let's hope we disagree with his selections more often, hey.

Quite the change from the chat we had in the Bulls Head before Wigan,

I certainly aren't endorsing him, although I am sure i would love it if he proved me wrong,

I started the thread because there has to be a reason why he is still in the job.

The only reason i can come up with is that Carol and Flitcroft are thinking longer term than the results since the first international break.

Hence the continuing, no Plan B 'Vale Way' is not based on the match in hand it's all part of a bigger picture to bring youngsters through fully trained in a style of football that befits the modern day Championship and Prem teams.

Unfortunately, IMHO a number of the senior players do not have the confidence or ability to play that system well.

But sticking to, and implementing, the bigger picture is what Flitcroft and Carol are doing and they believe Crosby is the right man for the job. I think they are loath to change the structure or personnel unless the trap-door beckons.

They may well be proven right in the long run. I hope so.
