On the other hand would a players dad tell a random fan what their sons true feelings and plans are?

Possibly not but I've spoken to him at Swindon and Crawley , didn't know at Swindon that it was his dad . Seems genuine bloke to me , can only take him at face value.

Whereas Sproson has ulterior motives. Wasn't Toby Edser the best thing since sliced bread according to Sproson too ?

During the Oldham game he was asked about Jake Taylor & he couldn't have been any less subtle about Taylor's frustration at not starting games & getting match time. He basically alluded to the fact Taylor wasn't happy & if things continued, would be open to a move in a couple of months time.

For me he shouldn't be commenting on Taylor & his situation on live radio. It's a poor question to ask him from Radio Stoke's perspective, but Sproson needs to pipe down. He's mugged Taylor right off because as soon as DC got wind it was never going to end well, hence him being out of the squad last night. I'll be amazed if he makes the squad on Saturday but Conlon's absence might force DCs hand.

Which contradicts totally what Jake's dad says. Some of you might know he goes to all of the games on the official coach. Nice guy his dad is. Had a lengthy chat with him at Crawley and he said Jake fully aware he's not going to get in a winning team and has to take his chance when it comes.

I've no reason to doubt anything that was said to me and given the fact we only lost at Oldham on Saturday maybe soon Jake will get his opportunity.

Sadly over the last couple of years Sproson is tarnishing his status at the Vale with his biased bile .

It certainly has caused some upset. It’s turning people against Clarke as some people treat Pope as a God and lap up everything he does.

And yes Pope was better than Bennett, but we played worse with Pope. Bennett didn’t need to hold the ball up, we played 433 and pressed. When Pope came into the team it turned into hoofball.

Absolutely. But the Forest Green game early doors I think we won 2-1 and Bennett scored was as good a footballing performance Vale have given in the past 2 or 3 seasons. Bennett rightly kept his place for a few games. He wasn't/ isn't great but certainly at that time merited the shirt.

Bitter and twisted man Mr Pope is.

His bad mouthing of Southend when we thrashed them, Bennett and Theo is pathetic

Incredibly some people I'm sure hanker for the prodigal son to return one day, coaching badge in hand as the new Vale manager.

    Do me a favour

Just finished listening... its clearly something that is very painful for Tom.

He sounds like someone who knows the game has moved on past the style of player he was and is struggling to accept it.

Sounds like dealing with Askey did a real number on him mentally. Whether that has impacted him to the point of being in such a bad place he cant come to peace with the way things ended I don't know.

Case in point... "Flickers was brilliant and I recommended to everyone that they get him on board... hen he didn't ask me my opinions on players so now I hate him." Doesn't feel like a proportionate response to me.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion on people though and Tom is more than entitled to his given its his truth... Pinch of salt on his ability to judge someone maybe given 2 people he had positive things to say about were Norman and Artell 🙂

    I agree with your comments.

Didn't agree on his mocking of Stones calling him mentally weak. Basically Stones was getting pelters and banter at City for weeks no wonder he didn't want to speak with him. Tantamount to bullying.

We also have to remember two sides to every story, i'm sure Askey has a different tale to tell.

Again the Montano thing is clutching at straws. We all knew he'd had issues with Clarke at Bristol. Not every player gets on with every manager. Was clear his days were numbered, maybe the fact it apeared he'd been released was wrong by Clarke but its all semantics.

Was an interesting listen and for me the way his career at Vale ended in such bitterness and slanging matches means that i won't be going to any testimonial game for him as i'm supporting the club who are bigger than any one player.

We're going to do a bit of a deep dive on the managerial candidates now it appears a decision is closer than ever. So we want to hear your final 3 (realistic) shortlist for the job! We're going to then discuss the most mentioned candidates on here (Facebook and Twitter) and their merits.

Give us your ideas and why you'd want them. We'll mention as many as possible!

Adams , great record of promotion. The job he's doing at Morecambe is incredible.

Parkinson. Worried about the football style, but he's a horrible git who wouldn't stand any nonsense.

Bowyer . Decent enough record , Bradford are a basket case so I'll excuse him that.

Genuinely think we've no chance of the Cowley sisters sadly or they'd be number one

When was Clark classed as a troublemaker? he didn't play saturday as he had hardly trained all week..... if its true that Mckirdy has had a spat with askey then that happens in football BUT it depends what over and if it had an effect on other players,in all honesty i will be amazed if McKirdy is still at Vale at the end of January along with a couple of others

Smallthorne dog about 5 or 6 posts above mine mentioned Clark with others

  7. With regards to McKirdy he played 26 starts and 12 subs appearances last season for Carlisle , scoring 11 goals of which 5 were in the FA Cup.

The comments by Beech suggest he wasn't particularly happy in the Carlisle area ( i wouldn't be myself !!! ) and he is a bit of a maverick. Not really any suggestions of him being a troublemaker.

Why if he was such a bad influence was he not put out to pasture instead of playing 38 times?

I just think he has been an easy target on here, because he's different, socks rolled down , a bit of a pleb etc etc.

Was he absolutely awful at Stevenage? Too right , but so was every other single player bar Rodney.

Also Askey comments on Theo don't suggest a trouble maker, granted that it was the first game of the season.

I love how Clark is also thrust into the bracket of troublemaker now too having been a virtual ever present. Anyone just thought maybe despite the freak scoreline that Askey just set out more cautiously at Bolton as Clark gets exposed sometimes because he is so attack minded?

Although Mills was ran ragged until he finally settled into the game.

One thing we can be sure of is McKirdy hasn't been frequenting pubs or Bookies !!!

Losing by the odd goal often to a last minute sucker punch does not reek of bad individuals at the club, it reeks of poor game management from those on the pitch .
