I was making the point that people went to that one despite AC being the manager, and the cost of a ticket plus beers must have been much more than the £15 they'd be paying tonight.

    Sorry misunderstood.

I get what you mean but I can only speak personally. I've gone since my dad took me as a toddler. So nigh on 50 years. I go for the social aspect over the football. It's in my blood we are used to being mediocre and are what we are. Otherwise I could easily go to Man City. I go to meet my lifelong Vale fans. Talk rubbish, have a few pints.

I went to the away game at Stevenage. The draw is uninspiring it'll be freezing cold a mad rush from work. I've no appetite for it especially after a crazy busy weekend I've just had .

That might sound puddled after going to the away match but you can almost script how it will be. Let's just say a 4-3 cup humdinger is unlikely !

I wouldn't castigate any stay away fan tonight although I'm bound to say that.

Agree with the point you're making, but whoever added that Stevenage FA Cup away following up wants get back to Primary School level maths lessons. Have you seen the pitch side video on you tube. Not a chance there was over 500 there. 250 at most.

I was there and when Stevenage announced 500 odd I was stunned. Think only 2 coaches. 1 official and 1 Dicko went.

I'd agree with 250 tops as a figure.

  3. There's a distinct possibility that when England inevitably fall short in the summer and Southgate resigns that Potter will be in the running.

You don't go from Chelsea to Stoke. To be fair Lard fans are no different to any other set with delusion of grandeur.

First time I've not seen their fans predict Benitez.

It would've helped if so early in the season we'd had cover for injuries and also we hadn't gambled on so many injury plagued players, we arnt the only club that gets injuries.

Sent from my SM-A217F using onevalefan mobile app

2 year deal for sicknote Jones and 6 month deal for sicknote Wilson.

Coupled with a gamble on Grant.

    Wasn't great was it.

Pointless venture. Who wants a tour around a league 2 club? Get the product sorted on the pitch. Once that is acceptable start messing with other areas. I mentioned this at the start of the season where I was criticising the window and our unbalanced squad and completely ignorance in bringing a striker in. The club seem more focussed on looking good in the papers  and spending money elsewhere than on the squad. It’s all well investing off the pitch but if the product is crap, it’s pointless. Only 5k vale fans last night for a game against Derby - proof in the pudding.

The quote is fur coat no knickers.

If the product on the field is tripe I personally couldn't give a hoot about a rollover hotdog or investment in an old folks dancing and bingo club.

That sounds nasty I know. But I don't buy into the fanzone, kids with painted faces etc etc. I'm only interested in a decent team.

The attendance was a disgrace last night purely because the on field offering is rubbish.

He’s probably got the next 3 games.  That’s it.

We'll win at Stevenage knowing Vale and everything will be rosy.

For me he's got to go now. The League is the bread and butter. New manager in before Exeter away please.

Wouldn't it be marvellous if Matt Taylors first game in charge was Exeter away.

But we're so puddled we end up giving it Schofield or Dunn.

Has to be relieved of his duties immediately.

Sorry don’t understand this comment, aren’t they just as close now as they were before, in fact can’t more home fans be seated nearer away fans than they could previously (at the Bycars ends of both the paddock and Lorne St?

Nobody has migrated from Hamil end of the Paddock to the Bycars end. Any singing mob in the Paddock has been decimated this season ( maybe gone in the Hamil ).

And the Lorne Street has never to my knowledge had any singing ?

It's the elephant in the room as regards the move but there's seemingly no place for home and away fans chanting at each other at Vale any more. Sorry to say but a lot of the fun has been sucked out since the move. People can opine as they see fit about how it shouldn't matter but it does, and I'll say "Good luck" to anyone trying to get new fans to come along and enjoy a flat atmosphere.

I'd love to think that the move could be reversed but that won't happen.

It's part of football the tribal element. Chanting and baiting without overstepping the mark.

Other than ' stand up if you love the Vale ' the atmosphere in the Hamil is flat. However you need something to feed off . Hopefully tonight the team provide that.

The striker debacle is unbelievable. How do other clubs do it? Why is it always Vale who struggle to lock down a decent striker.

Crewe took a punt on Baker-Richardson from Newport, he's flying. Wimbledon signed Al-Hamadi from Wycombe reserves, they've now got a player on their hands being talked about at Championship level. Accrington seem to unearth a prolific striker every other season, Colby Bishop the latest off the conveyor belt.

My point being, non of these players would've cost the Earth when they were first signed. They would've all been well within our budget & our reach. Where are we scouting? Which leagues are we looking at? Are we scouting reserve games etc? The 2 x latest signings up top stink of desperation. A striker to add numbers in Ryan Loft  because we lost Ellis, & then Uche who was lying on a beach somwhere. I mean come on. Taking the piss.

I agree with you but will add we tried Dior Angus as a speculative punt. And then Matt Taylor who looked disinterested other than bickering with the referee.

But you're right. To sign one at 11.50 pm on deadline day and then the press release made out it was a right coup ! And then as you say a bloke in desperation without a club is really bad recruitment on our part.

You've got to have a minimum base of 15 goals  between two strikers and even then the rest has to chip in with 30 plus.

Anyone see Loft, Uche or Wilson getting 15 between them ? Answers on a postcard.

It's ludicrous because - as we have seen so often in the past - there's no such thing as a certainty, with us! Just because we seemed to have the easiest path to the Q/F - those games still have to be won (...and won in good style)! How many times have we had "easy" Cup ties and let ourselves down - often, embarrassingly? How many times have we made Giantkillers out of non-League outfits?

I did put the caveat it was still an outstanding achievement. All I'm saying probably not eloquently is that on paper ( which as you say is no guarantee) we have had an easy path. I feel it's masked our league standing and had we gone out at Mansfield we may of now had a new incumbent? Pure speculation and irrelevant as we won with a fantastic display.

Clearly, some posters are prepared to give our injury list as a possible excuse for the downturn in results?

As for that ludicrous second statement - how many times, in the past, have Vale had the chance to progress but failed - and, often, by an embarrassing defeat? Having the better route to the last 8 is one thing...actually accomplishing it is quite another!

    Why is it ludicrous?

We are in the bottom 6  for XG and bottom 3 number of quality chances created. The stats and my eyes tell a different story. Only Shrewsbury and Cheltenham have a worse XG and quality chances created by us, both teams we have lost to.

You can keep ignoring it and lapping up what Crosby says about finishing chances but thats the reality.

I've rewatched the Shrewsbury and it's criminal the number of quality deliveries from Sang but we don't have any player wanting to make a run and attack the balls. Thats poor coaching

This will look like I'm targeting Loft ( Uche was equally rubbish) but at the end when there was opportunity to get bodies in the 6 yard box as we sought an equaliser , he was loitering near  the edge of the box with no endeavour to gamble and get amongst it near to goal. Hence on occasions Sangs crosses look poor . As I said Uche was equally culpable. They've got to show more desire to score a goal or at least have an attempt.

  13. I'm all for balance. We all have views but it's as though Crosby is somehow excused/exempt from this current malaise with some posters.

He is the manager. Whether he's a lovely bloke or whatever you can simply not defend the results. They are simply appalling including 2 very damaging home losses to Burton and Cheltenham.

Let's make this very clear .We could not have handpicked a better route to the last 8 in the cup. Whilst it's a fantastic achievement and opportunity the highest placed team we've beaten is Fleetwood. This run has papered over widening cracks within the starting X1.

At this moment in time he's doing a dreadful job.

What I'd like to know is if there's a cut off point ? 10 games,15 games or even more ? .

Saturday was so so predictable I'm sure many will agree with me there ? So if that's the case there has to be something done relatively soon.

If we lose tomorrow it's so Vale like to win at Stevenage and reach round 3 and once again a stay of execution .

As a last resort I'd give the 3 pre Christmas league games and then a decision has to be made.
