I'd like to see us in for a striker with some sort of pedigree this summer.
Someone with a reasonable record in L1/L2 that has maybe lost their way a bit.
I'm thinking John Marquis who is out of contract, or Joe Piggott.
Hopefully we can resurrect the Michael Smith deal too.
One of those signings would really give me some optimism we're doing the right things again.
Then I'd look to spend heavily in the creative areas on some quality wingers.
Ditch the boring 3-5-2 and attack teams with a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1.

Back to L2 prep. Ditch the Spanish holiday and have more meaningful friendlies. I feel that we have been totally unprepared for the last two seasons with stupid friendlies, I think we only played Doncaster last year that was of any use. It has been a complete shambles.
Start with 'easy' pre season friendlies and ensure that they get progressively harder.
Yeah agree.
Another area we've not been sensible in.
It's pretty standard to play teams "weaker than you" (Newcastle Town etc) so work on your forward play, then play teams "stronger than you" (ie Champ/Prem) to work on your defensive play, then play some teams at a similar level to put it all together.
Back to basics!

I see rumours are doing the rounds that there was a ruck with the playes in dressing room and it blew over on the team coach . It on twitter if true it’s worry or not?
Will be nonsense.
No fight in this group of players. we've seen that for 8 months.

Wrexham revenue £10.6M last season, that is why they can spend so much on players. What chance do we have?
Their documentary is such a sneaky revenue generator.
I'm sure I read it makes around £400k an episode.

As Aldershot just failed to make the playoffs, we should be straight in for Lorent Tolaj.
This screams Peterborough in the summer.

league two will make for some grim grounds to be visiting…. Wimbledon, Morecambe, Harrogate, Walsall, gillingham, Newport, Swindon, Salford, Grimsby, Colchester, crawley, barrow, Carlisle. FFS.
It's a cesspit. But we deserve to be there.
Flipping it around, all we need is some sensible recruitment and there is no reason we can't hit the top 3.
Wrexham, Mansfield, Stockport gone. Hopefully MK Dons can go up to get rid of them too, and there really isn't anything to fear.

We really need to sign a core of battle hardened L2 players this summer.
We can't afford another gamble of signing injury prone crocks, kids and rejects.
I want to see us signing players, and opposition fans being gutted we've nicked them.
First target I'd be after is Will Evans from Newport.

For me there’s one gaping hole in her statement that leaves me some way short of getting back on board. Nowhere does she say backing Flitcroft was a mistake and nowhere does she apologise specifically for her previous ‘open letter’ where she had a really good go at belittling Vale fans.
Her ‘mistakes’ have had too big a consequence for a generic apology to suffice.
It's the sign of a bad leader when they can't admit to their mistakes.
We all know appointing Flitcroft WAS a mistake.
We all know that patronising letter belittling Vale fans WAS a mistake.
She's really missed a trick not apologising for those, which I think would have got the majority of Vale fan back on her side.

Why? What's Foyle done to deserve this role?I'd get foyle in as head of recruitment with no director of football. At least he knows what the club means and understands the fans and local area.

John Coleman would be a better fit for us.

And the next bit of that press release was Crosby saying "His versatility will give us options"
They knew what they were doing. Utility square pegs in round holes.
Started the 1st game of the season in CM.
Clearly that's where he was signed to play.
Then fill in at RWB if needed.
Our wingback options have been shocking this season.
- Sang: Centre mid playing out of position.
- Clarke: Injured. Unlucky.
- Massey: Winger playing out of position.
- Plant: Winger/forward playing out of position.
- Grant: CM most of his career. Never a WB in a million years.
- Shorrock: 16 year old winger. Thrown to the wolves.
- Mighten: Winger playing out of position.
- Jones: CB playing out of position.
-
I'm getting sick to death of watching Conor Grant play for us.
Just going through the motions every game.
Left footed Lawrie Wilson.

Sang isn't a defender, that's the thing. He's a midfielder who can fill in at right-back when needed. Because of atrocious recruitment he has been needed to play right-back all season. I wouldn't say any of the players deserve anything, but Sang could certainly warrant an arguement that playing nearly 50 games out of position in League One, when so many other players have gone missing with injuries or just not fancying it, that he deserves to be given a chance in his proper position in midfield in League Two.
Exactly.
A lot of people have forgotten this and are hanging him out to dry.
Quote: David Flitcroft told the club: “We have been chasing Tom’s signature since we knew we had secured our League One position and we are delighted he has agreed to join us.
“Physically and athletically, we believe that Tom is at Championship levels and he will add a different dimension to our midfield."

The yak will be fine for league 2 level. Yes he’s clumsy at times but he’s also had some very good games this season in league 1. What about Cass he’s proven himself to be ok in that division before?
Yeah I agree with this.
He can be our left footed John McCombe.
Trouble is with our defenders, we've been asking them to be something they're not. Bringing the ball out of defence and playing 70 yard balls isn't anywhere near their skill set. Another one of Flitcroft/Crobsy's delusions.
Head it. Kick it. Block it.

I agree with most of that but I can't see us keeping chis and garrity. So Darren or whoever is incharge of recruitment is gonna have a very busy window.
What sort of fees though? Both under contract.
£200,000-£300,000 each?
That would be more than enough for a competent recruitment team to build a playoff squad.

If I was Carol, next season, I would meet with a small number of fans (stakeholders of the club) once a month or whatever to gage fans' opinion, concerns etc. behind closed doors.
In all seriousness, although people on here might disagree with one another, it's clear to me that people on here see the issues (e.g. Flitcroft, lack of striker etc.) so early on that Carol could do with hearing these thoughts and opinions as early as possible. It would be then up to her but at least it would improve communication between club and fans.
As IMO she has been hearing a load a boswollocks from Flitcroft who was found out but it took too many transfer windows.
This is a great idea.
However, we have numerous fans forums where these concerns were made.
Did Carol not listen to them back if she wasn't in attendance?

Who trusts DM to rebuild and become a successful manager of PVFC in L2 next season?
Carol needs to realise the multiple monumental mistakes she's made over this season, ignoring the fans concerns which have proven to be justified, and personally fund a L2 title bid.
The fans wouldn't have made these mistakes and don't deserve L2 football.
If we can spend one season in L2 and bounce straight back then I will forgive her.

Why have you said release Wynne when you haven’t seen him play.
If he's fit and can't displace Grant from the first team then I know all I need to.

If the bigger clubs don't want to play replays, they can just rest their first team and play the reserves/kids?
Rather than forcing the other 710 clubs to bend to their stupid pandering's.

If MK Dons don’t make it up via the playoffs I’d love us to raid them for Max Dean & Dan Kemp.
Despite them being a plastic club, I don't see us as a step up from them in terms of wages or potential success?

Release: Wilson, Wynne, Massey
Keep for 1st team: Chis, Garrity, Ripley,
Keep for backup: Uche, Smith, Yak, Clarke, Sang (as a CM),
Try and get rid of: Loft, Jones, Lowe, Debrah, Grant
Play 4-3-3 and utilise wingers.
Ripley
New RB - New CB - New CB - New LB
Garrity - Ojo - Chislett
New Winger - New Striker - New winger
7 new signings. All first teamers.
That should be enough to stay up if we recruit properly, even if we can't move any on.

This feels like one of the most pointless games we'll ever play where the gulf in class will be like we're playing a cup game against a Championship side and won't get a kick.
Bolton 0-1 Port Vale then!

Did they EFL have any say in this?
729 teams compete in this cup, why have 20 dictated these new rules?
Sold it's soul.

I wish people would stop rewriting history.
Matty Taylor was getting pelters on here during his spell with us.
No one wanted to sign him!
Why are people now saying we should have?!
