  1. I also thought Fury won, Fury was the much busier fighter whereas Wilder was relying too much on one punch. The English judge called it a draw, the American gave it to Fury and the Mexican to Wilder. How Fury got up is beyond me, he looked spark out, even unconscious but he somehow got up, I still can't believe it now, Wilder thought it was all over. He was caught with a power right hand and as he was on his way down Wilder caught him flush on the chin with a left hook Much kudos to Jack Reiss the American referee on two occasions, first when Fury was knocked down in the 9th he took much time to determine Fury was OK to continue albeit giving Fury more time to recover then when Fury was on the canvass in the 12th he counted the full 10 count and gave Fury every chance rather than stopping the bout there and then as Fury looked clean out. My view (For what it's worth) of Fury is he's more of a character than anything else and after that resurrection he has my utmost respect as a boxer. Truly unbelievable.
  2. Absolutely astonishing, I'll never know how Fury got up. Superb piece of refereeing. Thought Fury won it on points.
  3. Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury in LA on Saturday night. Two undefeated heavyweights, all depends whether Wilder can land a big right hand, it will be curtains for Fury if he does. Fury can box and has a herky jerky style so may be able to avoid it but Wilder is very athletic for a big guy. Wilder for me by KO, fascinating bout.
  4. Good win by AJ against a tough opponent in Povetkin who'd never been down in his pro career. Must say AJ looked at least three weight classes bigger than Povetkin. Mouthwatering prospect of a meeting between Wilder and AJ, hope that's what the 18th April date at Wembley is reserved for. Will come down to who can land the first bomb.
  5. Warren, There's a reason Boxing is known as the "Sweet science".
  6. Hope you're right RR. Will be interesting see see AJ vs Povetkin, can't see anything other than an AJ win.
  7. Incredible second fight between GGG and Canelo. I thought GGG won, can't see how any judge could give the last round to Canelo. Credit to Canelo though, he came with a different strategy to the first fight, stood toe to toe with GGG and pushed him back, surprise for a counter puncher, Canelo has an amazing chin as does GGG.
  8. Rematch of GGG vs Canelo Alvarez on Saturday 15th September, mouth watering fight. GGG was robbed first time around, hopefully he'll let his hands go more this time and KO Alvarez the cheat.
  9. Tyson Fury beat a boxer called Francesco Panieta tonight in farce of a fight as a warm up to a supposed match up with Deontay Wilder. I can only see one winner if this fight takes place, Wilder would be too athletic and too strong for Fury and if Fury turned southpaw during the fight then someone save him from Wilder's right hand.
  10. Linares/Lomachemko was a phenomenal fight, Loma is most probably the best pound for pound fighter around at the mo. He has incredible boxing skills and amazing footwork. Some very tasty fights for him like Gervonta Davis or Mikey Garcia.
  11. I haven't seen the fight but David Haye seems to have been around for ever. Although similar in age to Bellew I wonder whether its the 3 1/2 year lay off (2012-2016) that Haye had that he's not "recovered" from 'cause as you say Haye in his prime was a tremendous boxer.
  12. The Canelo Alvarez vs GGG rematch scheduled for 5 May has been cancelled due to Canelo failing two drug tests, the performace enhancing drug Clenbuterol being found in his blood. Canelo has been suspended for 6 months. Lunacy by one of the biggest names in boxing, wonder how long he's been doing the pills.
  13. AJ deservedly won on points IMHO over a tricky/awkward Joseph Parker, Two awful referees in two days. The Italian (I presume) had very little big fight experience and kept jumping in far too quickly, didn't let the boxers fight. Joshua vs Wilder would be a very interesting fight, hope it can be made this year.
  14. Didn't see the whole Dillian Whyte/Browne fight but the KO was brutal. Looking forward to the Joshua/Parker fight. Parker hasn't fought a top tier boxer and his last three fights have gone the distance, Joshua for me by TKO unless Parker gets lucky.
  15. Incredible joshua..esque fight last Saturday night between Deontay Wilder and Luis Ortiz, Wilder KO'd Ortiz in the 10th after being virtually down and out in the 7th. The match between Wilder and Joshua will be mega, may happen this year depending on the Joshua/Parker fight. Wilder's straight right hand is a game changer.
  16. Warren there are boxers around at this weight who would be a tough test for George groves, David Benavidez and Gilberto Ramirez to name two, just depends if the promoters can make it happen sand the boxers want it.
  17. GGG vs Canelo rematch on 5th May. Amir Khan scheduled to fight a Canadian named Phil; le Greco on 18 April in Liverpool. Le Greco has a decent record of 31-28-3-0 with 15 KO's but he looks to be an ordinary fighter. He's lost to anyone with a decent record and the majority of his wins are over boxers with very ordinary records.
  18. Jorge Linares beat a Phillipino boxer called Gesta on points, there's talk of a re-match with Luke Campbell in the UK.
  19. You're probably right, it was the first time he'd lost vs GGG and he received the same injury but to the other eye vs Spence, at least he got two decent pay days. I'd seen Spence a few times on US tv and knew he was special and it takes a special fighter to beat Kell Brook especially on his home middin', pre-fight I thought it was too close to call. I think Groves will edge it, he seems to have more power that Eubank and has been in with better fighters, Eubank doesn't appear to have a KO punch at this level. Gonna be interesting though.
  20. Terence Crawford is a tremendous boxer but most of his time and wins have been at Light Welter, it would be a great fight and I'm sure it will happen. My money would be on Spence, he's the bigger guy and Golovkin..esque in the ring. There wasn't that much weight difference between Brook and Golovkin when they fought. They both walk around at about the same weight but Kell Brook is special in that he can make weight at 147ibs, re-hydrate up to 160-165 and still retain his stamina for a fight, he's a big welterweight physically. Kell may have been mentally scarred from the Glovkin fight but if memory serves me right he was doing well vs Spence for the first 4 or 5 rounds. IMHO Spence is a special talent and also physically big for a Welterweight so no surprise to me that he won and did similar damage to Golovkin but to the other eye.
  21. Errol Spence demolished Lamont Peterson in Brooklyn tonight, I reckon he will unify all the belts in the Welterweight division. He's strong, fast, a superb boxer, has a good chin and can punch. Strong possibility of a fight this year with Keith Thurman. I don't know what weight Amir Khan fights at these days but if I were him I would stay well and truly away from a fight with Errol Spence.
  22. Spot on summary although I would go with Vasyl Lomachenko for boxer of the year, the guy is a brilliant technical boxer. Linares was superb also. I've not seen Conor Benn although if he's half as good as his dad he'll be some fighter, I'll watch out for him.
  23. Yep, he called GGG out at the end of the fight on HBO, let's hope he doesn't lose his pen again. Must admit I was impressed with the win last night, he was very elusive.
  24. Superb display of boxing by Billy Joe Saunders last night. David Lemieux, an out and out slugger, hardly laid a glove on him. Let's hope Saunders is true to his word and gets in with GGG 'cause I hear there's some doubt about GGG's rematch with Canelo.
