  1. Ah right was speaking with a Charlton fan at work earlier who told me he never looked like he was 100% fit so assumed he'd had injuries. For whatever reason it hasn't worked for him there. Not sure if he'd be a good fit for us or not, we certainly need a left sided player but probably more defensive minded in the wing back role? Grant has certainly given us more balance there the last couple of league games but he's more the "Beckham esque" winger who crosses the ball well/set pieces than one who is going to run at players and take them on.
  2. I remember Kirk was Crewe's best player the 2-2 game at their place when Anthony Kay scored that screamer only for him to equalise near the end. Been a tad injury prone at Charlton but undoubtedly a good footballer on ability(as most that come through the system at Crewe are). He'd fit right in with our treatment room at VP!😆🫣
  3. I remember people moaning their bags off on here and vale social media over the possibility of Hudlin(I genuinely don't know if we were interested or not, Flitcroft's interview indicated we'd been after some players who are playing in the championship so who knows?) but I wonder if people would have taken him having seen Loft now!!🤔
  4. I suspect McDermott hasn't progressed as hoped? He was ahead of several others(some who are younger I'd imagine?) in the pecking order beginning of last season yet now they are getting a chance even in the EFL Trophy matches ahead of him. Plant being the obvious one(before injury he'd been involved in most games since the end of last season). McDermott for example only got 15-20 mins at Wrexham when others like Walters, Buah, Lomax got most of the game and Dipepa has now had a league appearance as well. I suspect he might be released come May? Is that because we've loaned him out or we're loaning him out more with the hope that it may get him a club after he's left Vale even if it's NL or NLN/S level? Bit like a duty of care to give him the best chance of a footie career even if it's not with us. I guess that's part of the goal of academies as not everyone will make it but at least if they stay in football somewhere it's some achievement.
  5. McCallum has been around for sometime has mostly done well at national league level. I think he's had a spell with Orient in League Two earlier in his career and didn't do a great deal? Other than that his record is very good in the NL surprised no one else has taken a gamble on him although would appear he's a Londoner based on all the teams he's played for and has sparingly ventured north of Watford Gap!
  6. Part of it. They overspent on budget the last 2 seasons which was why Caldwell(CEO) left a few weeks ago and a new DoF came in. He splits Shrews fans I speak too, although he's done a decent job position in the table wise the style of football isn't the best(ala Pulis) which I'd imagine winds people up when it doesn't work. But as a neutral you'd say they did pretty well considering the size of the clubs in the top six in league one last season. The chairmans suggested they want a younger manager although of course that could be the official BS line
  7. Signing 22 players is/was ridiculous. I get the championship to prem is a big jump so obviously you need (some)better players(and Forest lost 2 or 3 of those that got them up due to them being loanees) but two teams worth is surely excessive? I don't know if Forest have a recruitment system where someone else other than the manager signs all the player(i.e. he has little say in it) if so I feel for Cooper a bit, if not he's signed his own death warrant in that job.
