Port Vale have confirmed that wingback Marvin Johnson has left the club after the expiration of his short-term contract.
Johnson was brought in after Vale suffered injuries to both Liam Gordon and Jaheim Headley. With youngster Jack Shorrock on loan, Johnson was brought in to provide experienced cover.
The former Derby player impressed when on the pitch with his quality evident but his spell was disrupted by injuries. He made seven appearances in total and is the second player to leave in the January window following the exit of Ronan Curtis
A club statement said:
We can confirm that Marvin Johnson has left Port Vale upon the expiration of his short-term contract with the club.
The 35-year-old wing-back was brought in on a three-month deal in October 2025 following injuries in the backline and made a total of five league appearances.
We would like to thank Marvin for his efforts during his time at Vale Park and wish him the very best for the future.

He did well when he played and did get some quality balls into the box, but with players returning from injury it has left us with a surplus of wingbacks. Sadly Johnson is the easy option to reduce Moores ridiculous over inflated squad.
