Irish striker Ruari Paton is the latest player to depart Port Vale during the January transfer window. The Irishman has joined St Johnstone on loan.
The forward had been linked with a move away from the club during the January window.
The 26 year-old has scored six times in 22 games this season but had been left out of recent squad fuelling the speculation that he may be on the move.
Paton was signed from Scottish club Queens Park in 2024 for a six figure sum and has totalled nine goals from 46 Port Vale appearances. He also had a spell on loan with Dundee United last season. He is contracted until the summer of 2027 with the Valiants.

Posted my thoughts about Paton’s exit in the ‘transfer rumour’ report. So, Paton joins other departures making it eight player exits in this window. I think that safely qualifies for what fans call a “clear out”. The two young signings for Everton plus Andre Gray’s arrival give supporters something new to focus on. The quicker they fit into Brady’s system the better.
