Week in review – transition time for Port Vale headlined by the departure of the two W’s
A weekly review of the last seven days of news at Vale Park including the departures of Wilson and Wilson, the coronation of Nathan Smith and a contract extension for Dan Jones.
Incoming: Jones commits to Vale
The club announce that defender Dan Jones has agreed a new two-year contract with the club. He joins fellow defender Nathan Smith in committing to the club.
Outgoing: two well-known names depart
There are two significant departures from the club. On Sunday, it was announced that striker James Wilson will depart while on Thursday the club confirmed that wideman David Worrall had left. The latter had opted for a two-year contract at League Two side Barrow.
Club news: award for Smith and friendly announced
The Valiants announced that consisent defender Nathan Smith had been crowned player of the year for a second time while details of the summer fixture at Kidsgrove Athletic have been announced.
Former Valiants: Butterworth released
In a number of features about former players we brought you the news that Dan Butterworth has been released while fellow loanee Mipo Odubeko is eyeing a move to France. OVF also published a round-up of news on other former Valiants.
Club news: season ticket sales top 4,500
The club also released details of this summer’s season ticket sales with 4,500 sold so far. The news includes figures for the Hamil End stand as the home fans switch ends next season.
Opinion: surprise at online POTY announcement
