In-demend striker Lorent Tolaj is on the move once again and the Valiants could profit from his latest transfer.
The striker joined the Valiants from Aldershot Town in the summer of 2024 and was top-scorer as the Vale won promotion from League Two. He was subsequently snapped up by Plymouth Argyle early in the 2025-26 season for a fee believed to be £1.2m. At the time, Port Vale CEO Matt Hancock confirmed that the club had a sell-on clause. However, it is not known what percentage that clause is.
Tolaj was a smash hit at Plymouth and scored 21 times last season. His form was such that Championship side Bristol City have snapped him up – his third move in just three seasons – for a fee believed to be in excess of £4m. Plymouth confirmed the news on Monday via their official website saying – “Lorent Tolaj has signed for Bristol City for an undisclosed fee.”
The transfer fee does mean the Valiants will get a portion due to their clause.
Tolaj’s sale does mean his purchase represented excellent value for the Valiants. Initially purchased from Aldershot for a fee reported to be around £300,000 he has now brought in way in excess of that as well as his goals helping the club to promotion in 2024.
