A meeting of the Supporters Club will be held at Tommy’s on Wednesday 26th October starting at 7:30pm.

 

The meeting, which is open to all, will provide the opportunity to review the recent discussions between Perry Deakin, Peter Miller and members of the Supporters Club Committee and provide supporters with the opportunity to consider the various options that exist with respect to appointing a Supporters’ Representative to the Board of Directors.

Port Vale Supporters’ Club held at open meeting at Tommy Cheadle’s pub on the evening of Wednesday, October 26.

One of the key reasons for the meeting was to update fans on the offer to create the position of a supporter-elected director on the Port Vale FC board.

The offer, made by club Chief Executive Perry Deakin to Supporters’ Club representatives, was universally welcomed by fans who attended Wednesday night’s meeting.

Mr Deakin’s proposal was discussed at length – as was the process by which any individual would be elected to the role of supporter representative.

The overwhelming majority of fans at Wednesday’s meeting were keen for the Supporters’ Club to stress that they were unhappy with the suggestion that Port Vale’s board of directors interview final candidates for the position.

Thus the Supporters’ Club committee will now be seeking a further meeting with Mr Deakin and his colleagues to ask that the supporter-elected director be just that – a director elected solely by the club’s fanbase with no interference from third parties.

The club’s response to this proposal will be shared with fans at the next meeting of the Supporters’ Club which takes place at Tommy Cheadle’s at 7.30pm on Wednesday, November 16. All are welcome.

The Port Vale Supporters’ Club committee would like to stress that it is determined to ensure that each stage of the process to elect a supporter representative to the board is open, transparent and utterly inclusive.
