    Shane Lavery ??.....hmmmm.

I saw Lavery linked to us somewhere along with a couple of other clubs, for me he would be an upgrade on what we have now and you would think he could score at League 2 level, did very well at Linfield and done ok at Blackpool, also and Irish international player so i wouldn't moan if we were in for him

In among this does anyone the point where we are able to rescind contract offers? With the youth players like Shorrock and Walters even if they don't sign by that point I'm assuming we would have to keep the offers on the table to qualify for compo unless anyone knows any different?

I still think Walters will move on,in fact the club may have played him so much near the end of the season just to try and increase his compensation value and as for shorrock,we know there has been interest in him in the past(mainly Forest i think) so that one could go either way. I would expect Bhua and the other lad to sign but you never know who has been watching these players

I’d take them both at league 2

Totally agree mate,I think there are a lot of players now available who can perform to a good standard in League 2 but if we are giving out 2 or 3yr deals again then we have to make sure they can step up to League 1 as well(incase of course we do get promoted),i think Kemp could do that

Probably out of our wage structure as spent last 2 seasons at Sheffield Wednesday but Reece James, left back has been signed by Moore at both Doncaster and then Sheffield Wednesday.

You are probably right but i didn't realise that,so could be one to keep an eye on,he hasn't really played many games for a 30yr old so maybe some past injury issues

By all accounts Charlie Lakin was outstanding after Christmas in league 2. I think he'd probably be a good signing for us. He was Sutton's player of the season and only joined in January. Bobby Kamwa caused us problems when he came on at Burton.  He might be someone worth looking at if we do play 343. A lot of pace. I think he's ex Leeds. Both are the age when players either kick on and have a good career, or drift down.

Dan Kemp getting a lot of mentions. I think he's a player who only works if you play to his strengths. MK Dons play with wingers and that isn't his game. Hartlepool and Swindon played him just behind a striker and he scored a heap of goal, with assists.

Regarding Kemp, thats why i said he is one i would be looking at if Chislett was to leave,he is a player who could fill in that role imo. I think Swindon would want him back but they have loads of problems by all accounts

Burtons retained list. Safe to say Blackmans career hasn’t gone how he probably envisaged it would when it was rumoured we were after him a couple of summers ago. Interesting name on there is Charlie Lakin, 25 years old went out on loan to Sutton and scored 8 goals in 27 games. Could be worth a flier on him at least?

Like you say other than Lakin who looks like he did ok for Sutton, there are no stand outs on there either.

I do think though they will be open to selling Stockton

Seen that Nicky Cadden has been released by Barnsley. Probably end up going to a L1 club but he’d instantly fix our left sided deficiency.

They also released Devante Cole as well and Herbie Kane so some decent looking players being released there

    Oh and RB Jordan Williams

    Michael hector from Charlton

31 and 6'4 played over 50 games for Charlton last season..... I would be happy with a signing like him to dominate at the back,he has been at some good clubs as well playing at a good level

Some interesting names on MK Dons released list

    Mo Eisa

Dan Kemp who scored 14 in 25 for swindon from midfield

Warren O’Hora who theor fans rate as a very good CB

Eisa really seems to of lost his way over the last few years but no doubting he has been a goal scorer, maybe he just needs to click somewhere and 100% agree on Kemp,i have mentioned him many times on here as a replacement for Chislett if he goes, there will surely be a few after Kemp

Conn-Clarke is a classic Peterborough move. I'd image they will also be in for Lorent Tolaj too.

There is a decent winger at Maidenhead called Reece Smith, left footer, 21 year old, that is showing a lot of promise. 11 goals in the NL last season. I'd like to think we're looking at these types.

These are exactly the kind of players that I thought we would like to take a chance on,a bit of a gamble but ones who could turn out to be that hidden Gem and make the club some money

Peterborough had a bid rejected for Conn-Clarke from Altrincham.

That's us out of that equation ( if we were ever in it ).

They will want good money for him as well as a sell on i would think

Their fans think he has what it takes to step up and he would turn out to be a bargain for them, they do spot them tbf

I'm more concerned with how we create chances.

For me, that's where the big bucks should be spent.

Imagine we put some sort of mystical spell on Loft/Uche where they scored every chance they had - they would probably only have about 10 goals between them all season!

Totally agree,as well as trying to bring in the goal getters we crave,we are also desperate for some creativity in the team, players who can get crosses into the box etc along with pace

Not just vale fans. Every fan of every club will want a striker with a proven track record. For every will Evans there is a Ryan loft. Will Evans do as well this season? Was it a one season wonder? Everyone was calling for us to sign him off Bradford / Swindon in Jan, I don’t think he carried his form on.

I think it’s a balance, it’s always nice to have someone who’s been there and done it, and more importantly knows where the net is.

To be fair to the lad Young i dont think it was a case of him not continuing his,I am sure he got injured as soon as he went back to Bradford and then they just chose not to play him so he was just a squad player there then

Wasn’t he on something ridiculous like £8k a week at Stockport??

Couldn't agree terms again so wouldn't surprise me at all,he dropped down to non league to join them so yes they must of paid well,he will probably end up in League 2 at what ever club will pay him the most money

Squad is set to be announced formally on Monday, but the lads selected already know if they're on their way to Cyprus.

I really hope Dipepa get's picked and it's a tough group for him to showcase his abilities against with France, Portugal and Spain all in our group.

If he performs well v those teams then you would expect interest in him to pick up

I would hope that we might want to suprise ourselves and take the necessary time to decide on, and then properly negotiate over, whoever we might want to sign. Similarly, concerning who we might want to let go. Accepting, of course, that it's not all under our control by any stretch of the imagination.

I would think that those we want to go will know by now
