    Stoke? No thanks!

I have also lived in many a place and abroad. Stoke is Stoke and has areas that need support. But the urban area has lots going on within a 10 mile radius.

The main issue is the people that live in an area, if they cant be bothered to look after a property, show respect and invest in the local area, then you get what you get.

Anyway it is the people that make a difference.

Bromley is a nightmare to get to, well its not far from Palace, back on to some of the topic. Nice golf courses near by.

Changing the strip every season is just greed. Please make the next strip the official strip for two seasons

Retro is the way forward, so old kits can be passed down to family or similar sized fans.

But the greed thing is just a daft response. I can buy a phone that does, what a phone should do or I can buy a new one that  has "twinkles with bells". I like the choice and nobody that supports the Vale as a fan gives a .... what Vale shirt you wear.

Each to there own and new kit sales do make money, ask my wardrobe. My choice, not Vales'

Perhaps we should set up a kit forum, where old shirts can be passed on? I have loads but I tend to give them to bars in far flung places. But I am willing to give the rest away if they fit a Sm/M person?

An old shirt is like a badge of honour " Son/Daughter -Dad/Mum that person has been to the Vale for 40 years, is he insane? Response Yes but he loves the Vale, must be mad, but what a shirt"

  3. Pity we do not do the old long sleeved version of kits.

I understand the costs involved, but the old Kalamzoo (Bourne Sports one. moths included) is still a thing of beauty.

Although I would love us to go to the PMT V shirt, done properly.

think we have a good midfield

Garrity,Chislet, ojo, Sang and grant if you play them in position. Sang and grant would probably be your 70 min subs. Maybe 20 min if Sang comes on for ojo when he doesn't feel like it

We do not have a good midfield, Garrity and Chislett scored 18 league goals, which is fine. But they do not create enough. Keep them yes if they want to, but they are not good enough to unlock defences on their own.

If we play wide players, forward thinking, rather than relying on our "wingbacks" who cannot defend/attack, both or either atm. Then we may have a central midfield somewhere, if you put Walters in.

But we not have anyone like a Morsy (Ojo 🙂 ).

We need to be on the front foot and play a system with players to entertain. Easier said than done, but if we are to rebuild, look at the way Ipswich have applied it. Yes more money but they create chances rather than worrying about the opposition.

  5. I looked at an article on Alfie May, he had a 20-(23% BBC) conversation rate (some give lower stats) for his 23 goals. So he had 98 shots. Ours have, well not a lot!

We do not create enough chances for our non existent forwards anyway. So that also needs addressing.

Then we also cannot defend so that needs looking at.

DM is going to be very busy 🙂

The interest may not be owed to Carol, it is owed to the creditors. My point is, it is the club in debt, not Carol personally. If it all goes wrong, the club goes bust, not Carol.

Nothing sinister about that, it’s the case with any business but the idea she is some saviour putting herself on the line for Vale is wide of the mark.

Most clubs run that way, so Carol is the saviour, she owns the club. If all chairs/owners, added up over world football, the money owed to them. We could probably feed the world and save the planet at the same time.

Carol and the family own the club, they decide what losses to take and obviously they want to make the Vale viable/sustainable.  I see the income was not on the accounts, plus I feel some jobs have been restructured from SS. Spending under SCMP is related to turnover.

If someone else wants to be a saviour, then I do not see any past Carol and Kevin?

Hopefully when we stay up, we may get an update on some of these ?'

According to Carol all of the board agreed that any transfer fees the majority will go back into the playing side,so if we manage to drag in any big sell ons from the young uns sold or fees for any of our players in the future, then we could follow the Peterborough model i guess

Why the Peterborough model? They have struggled to make it work. Yes they have sold players for money, but they have spent all of it also.

They seem to be another Rotherham, Champ one year then Lg1 when they cannot compete again.

Good point but 3 would have been a dream. People say there's no luck in football, well how the ball didn't go in the Wigan net from the deflected shot by Plant and the follow up by Dipepa was pure luck for Wigan.

Massive game Wednesday for Vale and Tuesday for Cheltenham.

Still got a fighting chance of staying up.

They hit the inside of the post and Yak nearly had an OG on his record.

Luck is not the way to win football games.

  9. It all boils down to the players.

Are they any good?    Are they injured?      Will we make money if we sell?     Do we own them?

The rest of the ? could include     Are they flexible or a leader and show good character?

Flitcroft is in a job that is tough, loads of players around, most of which are useless or expensive has beens.

So I like the youth approach, but to get promotion out of League 2 and stagnate, perhaps even go backwards with recruiting, is criminal.

No point singling out individuals, but I will Jones is not fit and Clarke not fit, so we play wingbacks and if Jones or Clarke go past the halfway line they cannot get back to defend, they are knackered.

So we rely on Massey and Mighten to help them out. (not the best defenders in the world, but they should be not required to do that all the time).

So as a DoF you have the choice, give Jones a 2 year contract when he is useful for a long throw and will fill a gap, or go and find a player that has the pace, strength to play a wingback role.

Tough role need to be solid in defence and create chances in attack.

We moan about the lack of strikers, but the defence is our main issue.

We drop so deep, because no player trusts the other to do their job, hence we concede easy goals by basically getting in our own way.

So do we blame the Players. Manager or DoF?

Budget helps obviously. But we are not ruthless and have a team, who think all they need to do is turn up, put up with a few boos and go home with the money. (again the youth team, again earn money, but hopefully they WANT to improve).

We have been here before, yeah it is frustrating, but even though I mentioned the players above. We have all had days/jobs/injury/things we can put off, so we do not perform at 100%.

    Happens in life and sport.

So I am a HC in theory, but chances given have to prove results. DM what can you do with 25 men, who are in a struggle (even Warnock gave up on Aberdeen).

I have not mentioned the owners, who I believe have made the correct choice to keep us viable. But that comes at a cost, with lack of money for the first team and as the old adage "too many cooks spoil the broth" behind the scenes.

Think that is my longest ever post 🙂 lessons need to be put into progress. UTV

Possibly but one thing’s for certain very few are good enough for L2 never mind L1.

I will excuse the young players from criticism as they still have time to develop but of the others, I’d only keep Ripley, Garrity and Clarke - they rest can be released or paid up (if we can afford to).
In return for my support all I ask is effort and commitment to the case unfortunately, there’s been none of that in 2024. I predict now it’ll take three transfer window to turn this mess round.

The sad thing is when we did do well late 80's and after. We upgraded or replaced players. I know Bosman messed up some of the deals and money available.

But if we sold McCarthy we got Ainsworth. Plus all the other deals that made sure we made some money but were still competitive and got better.

We have Arblaster recalled and we get Lowe.

I do not want to single out individual players but the way we recruit was always going to be the issue. League 2 players trying to do well in League 1, with no players of that level or above bought in, get away once but not for long.

  11. Behind the scenes Carol has moved the club on, stadium is getting there, fan zone etc.

But that is not what fans want. Good football and a winning team, or at least a team that shows promise. We did bring in players ,we signed and one resigned 3 strikers. All are useless or injured.

The senior players we have are too slow, always injured or no better than before we gained promotion.

IF DF thinks any of these players he gave contracts to, apart from BG maybe, he, well I cannot put words down. None of them will improve and that is what a good DoF can do to a 24/28 age footballer, with the right management. But do we look?

Planty and the rest have time.

Vale do not have time to pay no hopers, just having the odd good game.

When we were good the team picked itself and the subs wanted to play. This team my cat could pick and it could be better than the one DM picks, not his fault, but that is how poor they are.

Yates or Bowers hit the nail on the head when one of 'em said, "This oxford team have 5 or 6 players that could play in the Championship", Vale currently don't seem to have any. Add to that the school boy errors of not attacking the ball in the area (1st goal) and having one Vale player going out to two Oxford players at a corner (2nd gal) and it's easy to see why Vale concede/give away "easy" goals.

5 months of it, the 7-0 at Barnsley showed where we could be at.

The one thing I can’t understand is that Carol is a very successful business woman. You don’t create a business and then sell it for £180m without having a bit of nouse and without being able to make hard decisions. In fact, I’d go as far to say you actually have to be quite ruthless to be that successful, and that is what makes the open letter, the fact Flitcroft is still in a job etc so bizarre.

Sometimes loyalty pays off, if you have the right team/workforce.

I am sure Carol may be thinking the same as most Vale fans now.

We either sack DM, remove DF?  One may happen, but will leasons be learned?

None of this is personal to me, I just want the best for Vale and for them.

Wonder what Rudgie thinks and he is a diplomat.

Absolute shambles, a huge gulf in quality and organization between those two teams.

The concern is the organization, shape and tactics on the pitch look worse under DM than under Crosby.

How can two Oxford players stand over a corner and only one Vale comes out to them and they score, it's school boy stuff, awful defending.

    Can Vale declare now.

They missed the easy chances, both goals conceded were about heading a ball, the Baylee chance shows how bad we are, they blocked it, because that is what defenders are paid for.

The whole team, apart from the babies, looks like it is just turning up until the season ends. Shocking to see and where is Gore?

DF and the whole transfer team, including Carol and the other board members, need to have a massive rethink.

If I was DF I would resign, if I was Carol I would sack DF.

Hard decisions are tough, Carol I imagine is a person who sees the positives in people and gives them a chance. But I would only keep the youth team and get rid of the rest.

BenG, ConR, EthCh, but even then they are mid table lg1 players. Rest are showing it is about earning money, no fight, no skill, glad to have a job.

Scoreboard is great, pity it has no Vale goals to show. TC all, things can only get better.

We all feel the pain so support all your fellow Vale fans, even me as a Happy Clapper

  15. Garrity does not create so he is in the wrong role, with no decent ball players around him. Ojo well he is on downers, Lowe well he if off. Defence well they are worried about getting there boots dirty.

Once the rot sets in, it is hard and the players know it and it has spread to the fans.

If I was this bad at work I would be on gardening leave.

To an extent you need to make a stand and show a contract means something. If you keep applying the let them go approach every time a bid comes in, clubs will just make low offers knowing 9/10 a players wish will be granted.

Thats why you need a good manager, JR bought at the best price he could, values for buying went up as we moved up the leagues for the club.  But he let players go he thought he could replace, if they wanted a move. May be an ageing player etc. Contract obviously is a back up for a player and the club.

I like the youth side of things, but sometimes you need a Tim Parkin.

If we do end up in LG 2, then I would say all the players must look at themselves and hard choices need to be made. Once your in the last chance saloon, then you have to prove, that you have learnt your lessons.
