Not wanting to judge but I hope those special undergarments have plenty of life left in them.

It's amazing what you can do with a staple gun and some gaffer tape.  Worry not, they will see the season out, I just might end up walking funny for most of the close season.  Mrs. Lornelounger says I walk funny anyway, so I may get away with it.

Right.  Lucky socks and pants being worn (found them at the bottom of the smalls drawer and cursing myself for not wearing them since Christmas) and I've also offered a few prayers up to the football gods for a clean sheet and for Lofty to score.  Not sure about that defence, but when was I ever?  Come on lads, let's at least make it interesting and score first.  UTV and heaven help us all in this weather.

Its clearly all your fault them

I blame myself.  I would also like several other offences to be taken into account your honour, including missing the second goal when we played Middlesborough because I was trying to get my legs comfortable in a seat at the back of the Railway Stand built for a midget. Had I not been so distracted, I am confident we would have won the game and beaten Liverpool at Wembley.  So sorry everybody, I will try to be a better person in future.

Socks and pants will be worn for the rest of the season, obviously, and the same prayers offered. Good lad Ryan.

    Get some help.

Well, I will if you will - how about we go along to <ovf censored> Polishers Anonymous together?  I'll be there for you If you need me mate.  But I will have to tell them you started it....

What a strange chap you are.

Anyone who thinks this is the managers fault is quite frankly delusional.

Pep wouldn’t get a tune out of this crap.

And to be fair Spunk Bucket, it wasn't me who ventured into the arena of <ovf censored> polishing, it was you, which makes me wonder if you've got previous in that area?  How many did you try to polish before you came to the conclusion that it was impossible? Just asking for a friend....

No stranger than you Spunkers.  It's not the manager's fault.  There, does that make it better?  And well done on spotting that Pep wouldn't get a tune etc etc, cliche, cliche, cliche.. Couldn't polish a <ovf censored>, can't get a tune out of, game of two halves, couldn't score if we played until tomorrow, cliche, Pope would score more than this this lot, blah blah, manager bounce, bunch of bottlers, no place to hide, Fraudcroft, cliche, cliche, cliche.....  and on we go.

You can actually, but you need to vitrify it first, then it takes a lovely coat of Mr. Sheen and you can put it on your mantelpiece and look at it sparkling and glistening in the sunlight all day long..... Another myth dispatched, and you're welcome.

  9. Just back in from the game.  We did okay first half - had chances to get our noses in front.  Scrappy game though, not much quality, and the longer it went on the more I thought we might buckle.  At least they put their bodies in the way tonight, though it is painful watching Sang trying to stop their wingers putting in crosses.  To his credit though, he also has a good cross in him, and put in a couple of balls tonight that were begging for a bustling striker like Ellis Harrison to get on the end of.

To sum up - not as bad as we have been of late, but oh for a goalscorer to put these chances away.

Took a mate who is a Brentford fan - he's seen the Vale twice, both times at Orient, both games 0 - 0. I've asked him to come to every away game from now on, just for the clean sheets.

And that, ladies and gentleman, is what makes this forum great. Empires rise and fall, politicians embezzle, our heroes turn out to have feet of clay, but when you need to really feel the pulse of the nation, come on here to find out about the free hot chocolate at the Vale.  😄😄

Well, I couldn't possibly comment Fuzzy...

But you are absolutely correct, obviously - which makes her even more furious.

Much like the Vale, I can't win......

Not a single win in 2024. As we head towards the middle of March. Unfathomable. We deserve so much better than this. Keep your heads up Valiants, you're not alone, we're all feeling it. Dark times.

Again, trying to find some positivity in this morass of pain.  I decided on the New Year to base my beer consumption on the Vale's results - if we won, I'd have a couple of pints, if we drew or lost I would abstain.

    I've lost a stone and a half.

The present Mrs. Lornelounger is furious, since I can now get back into trousers she was going to throw out....

I agree but It's all down to whether Carol has modified her opnion of him or not. She's going to have to eat a large slice of humble pie to do that. Clearly our Owner has enoyed a lot of no doubt well deserved success recently with her business and charity work, and it must be very hard to accept that Vale hasn't been a similar success.

I think she has to cut herself a large slice of that pie, and eat it.  She has been admirably loyal to Flitcroft given the football we have had served up, but now she can see we are going down, she will have to review the situation.  I don't think it is impossible for her to say "I have given this an enormous amount of thought, because it has affected me very deeply personally, but I have come to the sad conclusion that it would be best if Flitcroft sought opportunities elsewhere" or something like that.  Otherwise, why did we employ Darren Moore if we intended to tie his hands behind his back and have Flitcroft provide him with players that are palpably not good enough?

I think Flitcroft will leave for the following reasons:
1 - using the criteria of the targets he had to hit like Carol did a while back, he has failed abysmally to provide the last 2 managers with players to keep us up.  That's the most important criteria for me - the other criteria Carol said he had hit were nice, but we are a football club when push comes to shove.  And he is in charge of all things on the pitch. An that's been shockingly bad.
2 - That fact will hurt him professionally. He has to look Darren Moore in the eye most days, and that won't feel good. He has to explain his failure to Carol (and despite some of the pathetic comments on here about the relationship between Carol and Flitcroft, she will see that he has failed - and you can't just big him up with the successes he has had without pointing out the most caring, expensive failure - relegation) ).
3 - So I think he will resign, because he has just had the relegation of the club laid fairly and squarely at his door.  I'm assuming he has integrity here, and is ultimately doing his best, but given the budget he has to work with, his best just hasn't cut it.  He can make a statement to say "thanks for the promotion, and sorry about the two dire seasons in League 1 - good luck"
4 - if he doesn't resign, he will have to be dismissed, which will hurt him more - so I think he will jump before he is pushed. It gives the club a convenient way of lumping a lot of the blame his way, and starting afresh (which gets a few people off the hook temporarily).  The players have to have a look at themselves too, but I'm assuming a lot will leave this summer.
5 -  Darren Moore will then be free to do things his way.  He took the job on with a DoF who has failed to provide us with the bullets to fire, and I am sure he is champing at the bit to get hold of the club, get in his own players, and get us playing better football again.  He didn't sign 5.5 years to be a failure.  I wouldn't even be surprised that relegation was always on his mind, and the events of the last few weeks have just confirmed that he has inherited a shitshow not of his making. He will be keen to start afresh without Flitcroft.
I hope this is how it plays out in terms of Flitcroft's departure.  He simply has to go, by one means or another.

I admire your optimism re DM but I've seen nothing to suggest he's the great manager many have made him out to be. Even DC managed to take stock of and then organise and galvanise the worst Vale squad in 20 years into an effective unit to achieve what was needed

I don't think he's a great manager, but I think he's a much better manager than he's being allowed to show at present.  DC had better players to work with in terms of their willingness to fight.  That's what saddens me most about the present situation - the lack of fight.  There's only so much Moore can do with what he's got, so I've written off this season as relegation with a poor squad, and I'm waiting to see what he can do next season, when the script will be his own.  No point slagging him off over his press conferences.  He has to stay loyal to these players and come up with the usual banalities because he can't say what he really thinks.  But I think we all know what he really thinks.  And it isn't pretty.

Oh come on do you really think Fraudcroft will resign 🙄

got more chance of us being L2 champions next season either Carol bins him off or she sells up because she'll be lucky if one man & his dog turn up watch that shyte next season

Will Nappy, you most reasonable of fans and the least knee jerk person on here, I live in hope. All you seem to do is froth at the mouth.  I'm gutted at what is happening at the club, but I don't litter this forum with rage like you do.  Opinions are like arseholes, we all have one, and yours is just special.  We both want Flitcroft out - Isee it my way, you see it yours.  Keep foaming and frothing fella, but look after your mental health eh?

  17. Not looking good is it.

However, in the spirit of positivity (remember that?)

1 - Congratulations to Baylee Dipepa on his first ever league goal - one he will never forget, even if it was part of a defeat.

2 - I've got 2 tickets to Orient on Tuesday, and...er...well, that's it really, it seemed like a good idea at the time. There's a nice cafe nearby, so at least I'll get fed.

3 - Better days are ahead.  We'll go down, Flitcroft will fall on his sword because he failed to deliver, and we will get rid of the players who have let us down and buy some others who will....er...play for the Vale. And I'll rock up and watch them because I always have and I always will.

It's not easy this positivity thing is it?

  18. Time for an ode to our hero lads.

    In celebration of Ryan Loft

    Lofty me old fruit,

You are now at the Vale

    We chased you for ages

    In the Brizzle fire sale,

And now that we’ve got you,

    And you’re playing up front

Give it some wellie, and don’t be a … silly boy

    So come on Ryan lad,

    It’s time to step up

    We won’t win the league

And we won’t win the cup,

We need you to score some

    To slow down our slide

You are the one to put goals in our side.

    And now on onevalefan

    There are nearly 10 folk

Who are fans of your of your pressing

    And don’t think you’re a joke

    So get on that pitch

and help me win a bet

(the goal is that thing with two posts, bar and net)

    If you score some goals

    We’ll cheer ourselves hoarse

    As long as it is

At the right end of course

    If only you knew

How we want you to score

You’d bang some in now, then bang in some more.
